And nothing's wrong with saying "gay" without rattling off a string of letters that reference all kinds of other ways of being (that hardly anyone can even name anymore what the letters stand for ..)

The thing that's wrong with it is that being trans, two spirited, non binary, asexual, etc isnt "gay" The whole reason we use the acronym is because we need something that encompasses everything in the community, and the deuchebags ruined "queer" One day we can go back to that word being inoffensive
How is "queer" ruined? It's the Q in the string of letters.
Because the general society connotation is that it is a slur. Too many people have used it that way for so long, it's taking a long time for it to comfortably be reclaimed by that community and reintegrated into civilized speech. For now, even 50% of those meaning well will be assumed foul
I had thought the Q was for "questioning" - meaning someone who is questioning whether one is straight, gay, bisexual, etc. I still don't know what the IA+ means.
Yeah, I think it is βquestioningβ as well.
Intersex, asexual, and the + is supposed to mean "and others" but they're still inserting letters.
Thanks! Hopefully that about covers all the sexuality bases? πLast year my granddaughter taught me the significance of all of the different types of Pride flags - I had no idea there was more than one.
Exactly π
