Totally open to however you want to interpret it. Maybe a baseline - what made you raise your eyebrow in a quizzical way?

Focusing a little on Star Trek, other then SNW, three stand out s significant departures from the prior two seasons. TOS, the 3rd season of which got very very silly, still some good episodes but many really poor ones

TNG, whose 3rd season was an incredible jump in quality, there were already improvements in the 2nd season, but the 3rd is something else entirely.

And ENT whose 3rd season was quite the significant departure from the prior two, not necessarily in quality, but definitely in tone, reflecting the sentiment in the US at the time

I suppose DSC's 3rd season was also a marked departure from the first two, at least in setting given the time jump

Outside of Star Trek I think of The Legend of Korra, whose 1st & 2nd seasons were a mixed bag, but with its 3rd it seemed to hit on what made Korra (the show and character) different from Aang and his show, which ably carried over to the 4th and best season (and still relevant)

Or Star Wars Rebels whose 1st season was mostly fluff, very much a shallow kids show with hints of depth, its 2nd season followed the same pattern but opening up to the wider universe and gain some depth. But it's 3rd season is where it really hit its stride and gained a lot of dept, 4th even more

Or Stargate Universe- oh wait shit. 😟 Or Prodigy- oh darn. 😟 Both shows deserved a weird 3rd season, SGU because it held such promise that it was beginning to capitalise on. And Prodigy because it was fucking awesome!

For all the shit ENT S3 now receives in hindsight, at least they had SOME sort of message they were working towards. SNW has nothing but gimmicks

Ent S3, the War on Terror before anyone had any real understanding of just how FUBAR things were. For a season of Star Trek, I think it excels. Has it aged well? Probably not. But we got some damn good stuff in there in terms of lasting moments and performances
