Folks, please don't tell me that those angry comments about where #StarTrekScouts fits into canon are serious? Come on now, this is a wee little show for the play schoolers - let them enjoy it, play the games, and have a little fun. Let's leave advanced warp theory until kids are in Senior Infants
instead of making the events of the episodes canon they could make it canon by being a preschooler show that exists *in universe*. especially seeing as the potential upcoming comedy show is also supposed to be broadcast in some fashion for in universe watching.

My mum was horrified that a kids show was so callous to the duck. (I had to show her, the message said I had to ask my parents to subscribe to the channel!)
Haven't seen anything about the show until now... HOWEVER Are you going to tell me that Starfleet don't have scouts and scout ships? OR Could this be like the Boy/Girl Scouts (Cubs and Brownies for the younger tikes).
With how some of these Trekkies act I feel like the life lessons imparted by this one might be important for them.

The Trek fandom makes my head hurt sometimes. So much gatekeeping. We need these kinds of shows to introduce youngsters to the fandom.
The only question I have about this is will there be a release of Star Trek Scout themed cookies sold outside every shopping center? (This is a girl scout thing in the US that I fully endorse)
I watched the first two episodes and I'm really hoping they come up with another storyline. This is almost as bad as when TOS got into the "planet of the whatever costumes the studio has a fuckton of" trope in the second season. It's a cute show, don't get me wrong. But come on...

It’s utterly laughable and shows how some people just want to hate on literally everything new that comes out of the Star Trek franchise. These people can’t get past the fact that Trek’s changing and evolving. They just want TOS and/or TNG all their lives. Seriously, hate doesn’t belong in Trek.🙄😂

i remember being so baffled as to why calculus was so essential for 9 year olds to learn and then i realized that when i was 16 we were taking drivers ed, so when they're 16 they'll be learning to pilot shuttles, which means understanding orbital mechanics, which means calculus
To this day, I do not know what calculus is. I assume we covered it somewhen during my UK maths education and called it something different. If not, my shuttle pilot dreams are over.
Calculus is not taught in UK schools. Only at A-Level as far as I can tell.
Well that explains it, thank you. I never made it to A-Level Maths, I became a Humanities girl the second I was allowed! That poor kid though. He just wanted to carve dolphins.

It’s the one where you work out the area under a curve, the sin, cos, tan stuff. Popular in GCSE further maths & up and in physics. Back in my day it was the stuff on the “pure & applied maths” paper. Once you got the hang of it it was just puzzles.

i watched 1 minute of an episode and said "getting annoyed at this would be pointless, it is a show for babies, i am not the target audience" and even if kurtzman were to declare tomorrow that everything in the show was full canon, somehow i don't think the next season of SNW hinges on it lol

Canon or not canon.🤔 With this show, Pre-schoolers can integrate that a captain is a white blond boy with blue eyes. It's important so they don't confuse who is the boss when they grow up. Ok I'm mean because I miss Prodigy. 😔 But I really think it should have been the little Vulcan as captain...

it's an in universe teaching aid created for... who bloody cares... people really need to accept when they're not the target audience for stuff, that that is allowed, they're not going to be the target audience of everything... and move on with their life.
I made the joke, and no I wasn't being serious. I do however think they missed an opportunity to do a quality early education show. They could have taught kid about the solar system, or don't make fun kid who looks different, or something more than the fork goes with the meatball.
This aint for grown ups. Its a kids show. For toddlers even. What is this, star wars fandom? No. It is Trek fandom and WE accept diversity in all its forms. 🖖🏼
Its sole purpose is to introduce 3-5 year olds to Star Trek as an IP. Its canonicity is more a suggestion than a rule.

Honestly, the only people who need to worry about canon are PRIESTS. Everyone else can relax and just enjoy the entertainment. No one’s soul is endangered if a fictional timeline varies.
OMG, this! I was around for TOS and am thoroughly enjoying New Trek. There are always going to be episodes, characters, seasons, series that I prefer, but I’m not losing sleep over new threads. The continuing mission should, you know, continue.

Sorry I'm one of those 🙈 No, I'm happy for all who won't care. I assume they are the majority. But I hope Trek does some small effort for those who DO care, either for emotional reason, or, like me, bc thanks to an annoying brand of autism the questions of canon can actually crash the brain. /1
Thankfully over at Trekcore someone had a really good idea how that can be easily done, so I'm hopeful and wish everyone lots of fun with it.
Ah, see im glad now cause im a firm Believer in head canon - i think with a show like this, head canon works just fine :) Imagine it as an in-universe entertainment show for small children, and all is well :)
