With art I have a hard time finding a style which is similar to this. A style is an artist’s identity & when I come across a style I’ve explored & don’t like it, I keep tweaking it & fine-tuning it. Over time, I imagine a voice & a style to change as we discover more about ourselves & the world.
that’s a nice way to look at it and to work on it. i certainly like an idea of a style that evolves, and i like that it gives more agency to the artist rather than something more passive
Right it’s supposed to be fluid and there’s all this pressure passed down from the masters but the masters did exactly that to start. I say to myself often “fuck having a style” to allow the freedom to experiment. And more recently I’ve landed on concepts and ideas that I’m gravitated towards..
From removing that internalized pressure entirely.
