The pessimism is understandable. Things WILL get worse before they get better, unfortunately. But if this comes down to an actual conflict they WILL lose.

The last time was a hard fought bloody victory and it didn't permanently redraw the nation. The bigots just passed their bigotry down to kids and grandkids and called it religion and 'common sense'.

I would argue that the status quo antebellum already exists. The fact that so many people are willing to help cover up the Epstein list is evidence of that.
