I have not said anything about the nature of the country or about volunteering for candidates. You have.

Too frequently assessments of "the nature of the country" give all the weight to slavery and oppression, and completely discard the idea that the rejection of these evil could be part of the nature of the country.

If you are going to make broad judgments from afar, at least don't make judgments that are overly deferential to the bastards

oops, I confused the two anonymous accounts - it was the other account that mentioned the fundamental nature, and I disagreed. I stand by that. we're funding a genocide currently, you probably noticed. the founders with their ideals....participated in chattel slavery.

Most people in the country are not in support of funding Israel's destruction of Gaza Again you are weighing the bastards more than the actual majority of the people

I definitely agree that a democracy is preferable to what the founders set up!

How the founders created the country (which really is only a small part of how our country can pursue unpopular foreign policy) is not the fundamental nature of this country. Maybe you don't understand, but we draw a firm distinction between the state and its people

Even in a direct democracy the actions of a state are constrained by more than just public opinion. Anyway I wish you would stop privileging the perspective of the fascists because it literally helps legitimize them.

so what's a "country" then? a state? or its people? I contend that a lot of Americans--people--like the direction of the country right now, the state, and that's how Trump won the popular vote. I am saying that majorities can sometimes wish ill and want bad things. this is not controversial.

You are using only that "lot" of Americans, which is some minority of white people and basically no one else, to base your opinion on the nature of this country. You are letting the fascists convince you that the rest of America doesn't matter. Stop

www.fox5atlanta.com/news/electio... I dunno, I think being able to say "America is a racist country" is easy and fine. it's healthy to point out the obvious. we need to agree on reality as a starting point in order to fix it. it's SO racist! try to tell me a fascist convinced me of that!
