I'd like to stop hearing and seeing the phrase "this is not who we are" about things that constantly happen. Maybe try "this is not who we should be".

This is exactly who we are. 1/3 chose fascism & 1/3 chose lethargy. Time is running out for peaceful protest to hit critical mass through unity. Hopefully I’m wrong, but odds are we Balkanize w/i 10 yrs. The mid-terms will tell. If they either don’t happen or don’t matter, the experiment is over.

Unfortunately, approx 1/3 Americans also chose not to vote, which means a majority really did contribute to our arriving here. Just a matter of whether they were driven by willful ignorance & bigotry, or willful ignorance & complacency. Either way, they’re a majority. This is the US right now.

Well / a lot of us are too young. A lot are too old. And a lot are too damn busy trying to survive. We turned out 10 million fewer voters than 2020. Why - is complicated / but the top reasons were lack of leadership on Gaza- Lack of progress. And racism and misogyny. Young voters stayed home.
