It annoys the hell out of me when I have to learn an entirely new way of doing something I've already been doing for 15 years and the new way offers absolutely no advantage and just make things more complicated.

This is the new paradigm.
It's done on purpose
Did IT just visit your work computer?
same
I completely empathize with you. I learned four different accounting systems at the office where I worked. They all did the same thing, accounting and finance, but the way they did them became increasingly complex.
Well, it is kind of the same for me, but in my case I have to completely rewrite the feature 5+ times just because my colleagues like the other way better. No explanation why it is better, just because...
definition of getting old
I thought you were talking about "new" Outlook. It's killing me!
Seen this once or twice before. I call it change for the sake of change. It gives people jobs to create things that no one asks for or seems to need. Microsoft is definitely a leader in this field. 😉
Seems you got a Microsoft software update, huh?
Let me guess, either computers, middle management or both.
Oh! You’re a school teacher too? Wow!
What Docker RESLLY does us move the environment maintenance burden from the Ops team to the Dev team. I still haven't figured out why this is useful or necessary
Is this like when they move configuration into code claiming it's easier? Or when they move code into configuration because it's easier? It doesn't matter what rock you hide things under, sometimes it really does need to be complex.
apparently, you work for the phone company.
Now now, that isnt team-player talk. You have to be able to accept change. Apparently we need to have an all staff meeting w/ an icebreaker where you tell 3 things about yourself no one knows, and your deepest darkest fear. That should fix your bad attitude about upgrades with no end-user input. 🙄
This is exactly why I cringe when I decide to upgrade my smart phone. 😵💫
Wife and I constantly complain that UIs keep changing.
Tech industry?
While that is true, so is this... 🙂
Everytime my phone gets an update
Yeah, but someone is earning their 6-sigma black belt.
Perfect description of photoshop.
New version of MS Office, then?
Every time we get a new #Windows Version. I used EP to run radio stations, I have a Vista computer loaded with music, and a Window 10 laptop which I hate.
Same: coding in matlab versus forced to use R. Solution is spending more time learning how to use AI as a translator
Careful, Mark Cuban might declare you a negative Nellie, unwilling to learn the latest digital miracle sure to improve humanity.
You spying on me? In my case it has been 17 years… & the powers that be keep tweaking the system causing changes so we, the worker bees, have to figure out how to do everything all over again.
I’m sitting in a meeting right now, learning a new complicated way to do something I could do by hand 35 years ago. Progress!
(I now have to learn how to create a Docker image and deploy things into AWS.)
Autocorrect keeps turning AWS into ASS.
Welllllll
I really don't have a problem learning a new way of doing things if at the end of the learning curve I've got something better out of it. But it's galling when I have to climb up a giant learning curve just to get back to the same exact place I was at during the start.
