I don't like the fetishizing, I think Cruise looks silly preening throughout, I don't particularly like the motorcycle chase (and Dougray Scott isn't good either). Alas I don't like Paycheck either, Woo was no guaranteed success in U.S., especially here where he had to battle ratings and Cruise.
The Zimmer score and the Scott quip in the opening scene (re Cruise’s constant grinning) help a little to cover the preening and silliness. But surely just the fact that Woo could do what he did in such a big franchise was impressive. Never bothered with Paycheck.
