Well, now you just made an 18 year-old cashier cry in the middle of her shift. So I guess the answer to your question is "basic human compassion. "

Because cashing 3.49 five times is ... what? Seriously. Paying with NFC, 15 seconds per transaction.
You really want to make it crazy, write a personal check for each one. 🤣
I really don't want to be extra shitty just for kicks, just circumvent an idiotic store policy with as little extra effort for anyone as possible. 🔽
Also that did not occur to me. I have not written a check in decades and probably never will again. You know I can send money from my account to yours same business day without any fee in the EU? 😉
Here too, using a service called Zelle. I'm just waiting for the IRS to start tracking in taxing the transactions. Hasn't happened yet, but I figure it's just a matter of time.
It's only that it is the single bank account every person has. The one where your salary goes to, your rent and health insurance goes from, etc. Account to account transmission has been ubiquitous for decades. I sometimes still have a hard time to believe US citizens still carry checks.
Most don't. Only old people, really. And there are also specific businesses that will give you a 3% discount for check, due to CC processing fees. Like, I still pay my annual property tax with a check, because that 3% fee is HUGE on a number that large.
The only paper checks I've written in 25 years are to a shuttle driver in southern Mexico, who only takes MXN and US checks. I fish there a couple of times a year, and I have to stock paper checks just for that dude.
I'm not sure you are meant to be shopping in person.
The fuck is wrong with you people? That cashier is going to quit her job on the spot, and then who will you pay?
LOL, no, it's not the process of running the cash register that would distress her. It would be you making her complicit as you egregiously evade store policy. You want everybody to be part of your plot? That seems way too organized for a person who I can only assume is an anarchist.
So the cashier is supposed to care if it's one person with five bottles or five person with one bottle each? OK ...
The cashier, especially if young, doesn't care about your fucking bottles. She cares about not getting yelled at by her boss for not following store policy. You're supposed to behave such that you don't put her in that spot. nb This started off as a joke, but now I think you might be a monster.
Maybe I am not used to cashiers being yelled at by their bosses or policies like that or anything that lead to this discussion over here where I live. Apologies. If that is the lived reality I really pity you or anyone having to work under such conditions.
I would like to visit the magic land where you live, where there are no bad, impatient, unkind employers. I've traveled much of the world in my 60 plus years, and I've never been where you are.
It's more the combination of a bad boss and the expectation that anyone would take such a price tag seriously. See my other reply. Of course there are bad employers.
Well, at least a price tag like that would never fly and nobody trying to enforce that policy would be taken seriously. That's why I initially did not get what you were talking about. 🔽
If I was to point out such a tag to my local supermarket manager the expected answer would be "oh, that's a mistake, of course the price is 3.49 per bottle". Seriously.
And then there is of course the occasional super-xl-pack with a price per item or per litre or kilo or whatever that is higher than for the regular pack. But it's EU law that the price per kilo/whatever must be on the tag on the shelf, too, so you do not even need to do your own math. 🔽
But such a blatant absurd rip-off - no, not going to fly. Everybody would just go "ok, let's pretend I buy one bottle, re-enter the market, buy another one, re-enter ..." Absolutely not enforceable because it's so obviously stupid.
Not if you use the self checkout.
Fucking hell. Some of you will do anything to avoid living as decent human beings.
