If they ever win. I just think there are a fuck load of people waaay out to the right there, closed minded older generation who ACTUALLY vote. I do think we should have more left wing candidates tho, I 100% agree on trying to primary people and get more left leaning people as candidates.

I honestly think that's the media creating straw men of who the voters are, as if we aren't 360 million people across a vast country with different cultures. I think you're just hearing from the political bubble and the dem establishment wants to maintain the status quo to control the masses.

Congrats then, you’re halfway there. If you want to compromise in the privacy of a general election voting booth by all means, that’s rational enough. But if you want something you should argue for it! Build the case! Don’t preemptively concede and argue against your own preferred outcomes!

Older people are dying off, millennials will vote if they’re appealed to. Boomers’ parents were more left wing on most things than they were, generational lean is a function of the environment, so build a left wing chorus instead of trying to defuse it.

I hope that is true but if you look at the polling on young men and the split that is happening there, I am not convinced. So that's fine if what you say plays out NOW, but lets all be sure of our numbers before we start kicking people out the tent.

I think the polling is bullshit. People need leadership that stands for something. Polling is why dems are hung up right now.

At least you are staking out a position. Do you have evidence to support that position? I think anyone would accept that politics is a balance of both leading and following the electorate tho so I can respect the "we need to show stronger leadership" position, I agree with it.

I don't have evidence. I think politics is a death cult. I'm just a poor disabled American in the trenches with my finger on the pulse of what real people think. Sometimes you just gotta have faith in your position and the people. Give me a leader that is a real person and cares and I'm in.

I held my nose and voted for Harris but I'm nearly at the end of my rope. I had hope for Obama. I keep being lied it. At this point, I'm certain than establishment Dems are a controlled opposition party and I will not be extorted into voting forever and validating that I believe in the system.

Belief is dangerously low. Dems are gonna have to at least run one genuine person of the people before they go back to lying.

I totally agree on the younger split. I'm not a fan of "the old people are dying off" rhetoric because the inherent problem of white superiority is being passed down to newer generations. However, you have to make sure your tent has strong poles to stand on. If you sacrifice your poles to bring in

More people than your entire tent falls. Which is what's happening to the Dems. They are trying to expand to reach right leaning or far right voters and are sacrificing their foundational poles to do it. And that's not okay. We can't abandon our values and our people.

Just keep an open mind. But remember that if your tent doesn't stand for anything it doesn't matter who's in it... and standing for something is a great way to recruit more numbers. Lastly, not to point fingers but the centrists started kicking people out of the tent first!

Biden easily beat trump in 2020 with a progressive platform, he got more votes than any candidate had in the past, and yes, this was after Trump was so horrible and we were still in covid times, but, simply looking at the platforms that lost to trump and the one that won, gives some insight.

candidate in 2016.112] His 2020 campaign positions included codifying Roe v. Wade into statute, creating a public option for health insurance, decriminalizing recreational cannabis, passing the Equality Act, providing tuition-free community college, and passing a $1.7 trillion climate plan embracing the framework of the Green New Deal. Biden supported regulation of fracking as opposed to a complete ban on the practice.

I'm so glad Biden got those things done and kept his promises like Obama. That's what inspired me to believe in Harris.

My point is only that by the time you are down to Harris Vs Trump, you only need to be able to acknowledge that you minimise a lot of suffering in the world by encouraging a vote for Harris.

But she didn’t actually offer that. She ran on strong borders (deportations), “most lethal military” (ew gross), and continuing the genocide. She abandoned universal healthcare and trans rights, and barely spoke on education. She thought “trump bad” was enough but she needed to offer actual good.
