Exactly. My concern is that this sort of chat suppresses the vote where it counts because it lacks nuance i.e. is a purity test

who else's civil rights are you willing to tell them they have to abandon? if dems nominate a racist will you be lecturing black voters on this? if they nominate an anti-abortion candidate will you lecture women?

Right. Stuff like "vote blue no matter who" is basically the opposite of nuanced.

So I do agree with you, it not nuanced. For me the context of it is in the General when it's too late to make changes to candidates. I would advocate for leaning left in the primaries and make centrists lean left. Although it's not without risk.

It's interesting how you take that. When people say that, what I understand them to mean is "when it matters, vote blue no matter who it is" they are not giving a blanket statement to everyone but they are saying "keep the right out of power even if it means someone you don't particularly like".

I find it hard to interpret it as anything other than a blanket statement. To me "no matter who" seems pretty unambiguous.
