There’s something about Peter Weller slumming this time around that bums me out: he’s too good for this. He should’ve done like Liam Neeson after Darkman and bounced.

Maybe he thought there was something worth working on there? We don't have to agree with him, and yet...?
Yeah, who knows what this movie looked like on paper? The script was heavily rewritten, Irvin Kershner had directed The Empire Strikes Back, so he probably seemed like a good choice, I bet the money was better… I don’t blame him!
And I don’t hate this movie! I think it’s fun! I just think it’s a big step down from the original.
For the life of me I thought Weller did the DKR Batman voice in TNBA Legends of the Dark Knight ep, but the interwebs say I am wrong.
Michael Ironside. Wasn’t it Weller in the animated DKR (never saw it).
Yeah, it was Weller in DKR (and he was great).
Ah, that’s where my Mandela effects got crossed.
It's a great adaptation all around, but Weller really shines in it.
I remember liking it a lot. IIRC the movie clarifies that confusing shooting a mutant scene to the side of making it clear he kills the mutant, which is a shame.
I tend to find those DC animated adaptations lackluster compared to the comics they’re based on, but I have no doubt he nailed it.
For some reason they decided to take out the narration from Year One and it is very missed in the movie.
I heard the voice of the kid they got to play Year One Batman and I think I understand why they’d do that.
Point, but yeah, the lack of narration really does hurt the adaptation. Also, the guy who played Batman went on to play Gordon on GOTHAM.
I’m not familiar with him as an actor, and I get this was “young Batman,” but he just sounded too youthful with no gravity or authority to his voice. Not a knock on the performance, he just sounded miscast to me.
He’s a great actor!
Fun fact: I once auditioned to be a local Robocop for public appearances, mall openings, etc. I didn’t nail it. The guy who was FAR and away the best- had the walk, nailed every minute mechanical movement- was a short, stocky guy who would never have fit the suit. A male model who was okay got it.
OH SNAP I FORGOT THIS EXISTED
The telethon to save Detroit is pretty great.
AW SHIT HERE’S MY BOY ROBOCOP 2! PHIL TIPPETT! PHILLLL TIPPEEETTTTT!!!
Why Robocop 2 doesn’t fight the ED-209 is beyond me*. *Time and money, probably.
Spent the budget on the procession of grisly failures scene, maybe.
When you put it that way, they made the right call.
Lewis does nothing in this movie except remind you Lewis was in the last movie.
Remember that Robocop 2 is not just a unstoppable murderous cyborg, he’s an unstoppable murderous cyborg who LOVES gettin’ high.
Way overdue a rewatch. I remember so little. He flies? What I remember most is whereas 1 had scenes in the style of DKR, 2 had a writer in the style of DKR.
No, no flying until Robocop 3, which I am now watching and will continue to watch until I tap out. Robocop 2 has some good stuff floating in a bunch of nothing.
Oh no tubi you started autoplaying robocop 3 and the remote is over there nooooo
Sometimes I wonder if Tubi and Roku have a deal where there's a secret sensor that knows how far away you are from the remote to follow a movie with something questionable. Yeah, Robocop 3 is the sequel, BUT STILL.
CCH Pounder AND Stephen Root in the first five minutes? Okay Robocop 3, I’ll play your game.
Okay, I still think this movie isn’t good, but somehow the movie starting with a ragtatg group of grubby everyman anti-corporate freedom fighters feels both appropriate AND like a logical continuation of the themes of the first movie. They’re an inversion of Boddicker’s gang. Interesting.
Oh, here’s James Lorenz from Frankenhooker! Nice!
