Is there some sort of scam where people ask you to go on WhatsApp or Telegram to chat? I keep getting purported celebrities asking me to chat like that, but I can't figure the purpose. I assume its nefarious and they aren't who they say. But I can't figure out what they're trying to do.

I believe you. If nothing else the syntax they use just isn't right. But I can't figure what advantage they get on the other sites.

For every 1,000 real people they contact, a percentage (not sure what that is) will fall for their scams. It’s ultimately about money and how much they can steal from innocent parties. Avoid them like the plague.

I understand. Just always curious what the specific scam is. I've had the creator of Twitter want to help me with investments, "Bonnie Raitt" wanted to give me money, "Angelina Jolie" is currently asking me to meet her on WhatsApp. Its sad that these folks are impersonating real folks.
