What I heard? They’re pissed off. They think politicians are corrupt, the system is broken, and no one in it actually cares about them or their lives.

These apprentices care about their union and their paychecks and their jobs, and they also care about the country. They watch people get into office and get rich. So much of politics reeks. And so much of it feels broken.

Ya know what? They’re right. And frankly I’m sick of it too. I appreciate the time and the candor. I love when people don’t hold back. And I’m thankful that a good number hung back to sign my petitions to help get me on the ballot. We’ve got a chance to do things differently. We’ve got to.

Politics are bad, but they are the only way out of this mess, that needs to be said over and over and over again. If we have any chance of changing the system we need these people to vote.

Vote and constantly voice our opinions. Vote and work for what we want to see. I’m afraid we in this country think our job is done when we cast out ballot.

Yes, that’s exactly it. Civics is a lifelong responsibility, and unfortunately not taught in school anymore. We are living through those consequences.
