Yep. "Liberal" is a center-right political ideology. Anything right of center disgusts me.

You are thinking of social democracy, a center-left political belief. "Liberal" in most of the world refers to a center to center-right political belief. In the US, this is a bit different, where "liberal" is used to describe anything that is left of right-wing. But the US is not the main charactrr.
