I’ve seen this exact text replicated a ton of times in the social media wild now (same ages cited, same missed milestones) and…are homeschooling influencers aware that it’s like very possible to be *bad* at homeschooling?

I also wonder whether they would somehow think it was a problem if a kid educated in a traditional school couldn’t read at grade level? Or do they think not learning to read at home is better than not learning to read at school
Not learning to read a school is a failure of the system Not learning to read at home is ✨freedom✨
Most of the time, homeschooling is child abuse.
I was referring to the way this lady is probably thinking.
Yep I got that!
I wasn't sure if it was clear. 😅
You're all good. And yeah, I know the exact type you refer to. They homeschool or "unschool" for themselves, not the kids.
I’m not even saying you’re necessarily a bad homeschooler if your 8yo isn’t reading chapter books! I’m just saying that bragging about your performance in an area that is largely unregulated and where you can make it a long time before anyone notices you’ve failed at it is an oddly confident choice
