You have to take risks to win. But it's also short! The longer a game the more disappointed you'll be when you lose, and in Rogue, probably, you'll always lose. You're probably doomed, but it's fun. Even good players usually die. Have fun with your doomedness.
That's the reason Rogue has a scoreboard. You're playing for a high score.
