Those old air conditioners are meant to last. Not this weekend, but if you can find a decent HVAC mechanic to get it working again (I've seen it happen), I hope it works again for you!

Oh totally agree. And it did last. For almost 50 years. But it is also an energy pig and when I was able to use it my electric bill was ridiculous even though I used it sparingly (usually 3 hours at 7 to 10 to cool things down enough to sleep)..

Oh yes there's that - the energy efficiency for sure.

And I just had solar panels installed so I will need to find something more energy efficient. My furnace though? That will outlive me and it already ancient.

Well, you can still TEACH history without books, right?

I’m also an English teacher. This semester I’ll be having my students in English 30 read ‘Fahrenheit 451’. Seems more apropos this year than any other in my 23 year career.
