First big harvest. I have a lot more tomatoes growing and I still have my chili peppers that need to ripen. The zucchini is mostly done but for two still growing. Will be spending day dehydrating hot peppers and roasting tomatoes to freeze.
I’m not sure that is even necessary as Trump seems to enjoy being cruel all on his own.
Just an update for some of my friends. I have a new cellphone and lost some of my contacts as a result. If you used to be in contact with me but I haven't responded, that is the reason.
I have a chipmunk in my yard that I have to bribe with seeds to protect my stray.
Well, not everything. I am still learning, but the process is a lot of fun.

And I just had solar panels installed so I will need to find something more energy efficient. My furnace though? That will outlive me and it already ancient.
Oh totally agree. And it did last. For almost 50 years. But it is also an energy pig and when I was able to use it my electric bill was ridiculous even though I used it sparingly (usually 3 hours at 7 to 10 to cool things down enough to sleep)..
I’m also an English teacher. This semester I’ll be having my students in English 30 read ‘Fahrenheit 451’. Seems more apropos this year than any other in my 23 year career.

I suspect it is the latter rather than the former (though it could also certainly be both). It has always been about control, and given the White Nationalist rhetoric being pushed by elements of this movement there seems to be a Lebensborn feel to all of this.

I have zucchinis.
Normally this wouldn’t be a healthy supper, but I did make the salsa myself. My garden tomatoes (yellow and red) and jalapeños. Also shallots, cilantro (not a lot), and fresh lime juice. A bit of cumin as well as salt and pepper. I also roasted two heads of garlic and mixed that in too.
A few raspberries and alpine strawberries from my back yard.
This is a damn good sangria.
I am mediocre at best, but I’m getting better. 🙂

My take on a Caprese salad. Garden cherry tomatoes and basil from one of my pots (also a bit of thyme and oregano because why not?) Baby mozzarella balls. Olive oil. Pepper to taste. Probably needs a bit of salt.
I’m not a good gardener, but I do enjoy the effort.
