I don’t have any idea what my SAT score was. Is this something other adults think about a lot?
I don’t have any idea what my SAT score was. Is this something other adults think about a lot?
I suspect this is a very popular thing among white men. I’ve never forgotten my SAT and ACT scores and it was a loooooong time ago.
haha. i think i remember both my psat & sat scores, 55 yrs later. probly bx i was trying to get into a good university as an art major & knew i wasnt gonna get help to do so from my father. he was too busy saving every dime for my younger brother to attend carnegie mellon, where i was dying to go.
I remember my ACT score but I’m a little blurry on the SAT. Not many people took it where I lived. I know I did better on the math than the verbal.
Didn’t have to take SAT for any schools applied to. Took ACT first and then state required it; so took it twice. I know both scores 20+ years later. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I had lots of scholarship offers, including Ivy League schools. Full ride. Because I was 17, I obeyed my parents and took a pittance that was offered at a Christian school. Accrued debt I'm still paying off and got kicked out for not being an ideal student. Not bitter, though.
that sounds genuinely rough bro.
I can't complain at this point in life. I have a job I mostly like, make OK $ and have a great wife and kids. What if is a game that serves no purpose.
sending you a cold beer from the left coast
I have enjoyed many out that way. We've got some great breweries here in the Nashville area. I'll raise one to you.
Apparently I’m old enough I can’t remember either. And it’s never been asked on a job application.
Not ones with actual intelligence
Almost never. Can’t remember my exact score
I know what mine was because it was a really big deal at the time. Got me into Georgia Tech, despite having a 3.1 GPA in high school (Tech was MUCH easier to get into in 1980 but still had a pretty high academic rep). I was not a successful engineering student (adhd was untreated back then).
I assume I had a GPA!
I know mine because it put me in a prestigious college. My HS grades didn't. Lol.
I try to focus on more relevant metrics like IQ or astrological sign
I think about my ACT score a lot right now because my sons are taking it soon and it’s very important that they know the score to beat
Only the adults who think about IQ scores a lot.
I have no cause to dwell on it now, but I totally remember mine after more than 40 years because it helped open a door to a better life for me, an emancipated minor who applied to college at 16 and never looked back.
Every now n then, tbh. Lol
I don’t even have one. We had ACT in my state. Try remembering that!
I don't know, I never took the SAT.
i really dont think its important. i only remember mine because im a nerd and i like numbers.
I do remember it but I never think about it.
I’m 55. Today an old high school friend called me and we discussed our ACT scores. He needed to brag that his 27 year old son had scored higher than me.
....he waited ten years to have that conversation? I mean it would be kinda weird even if the kid had just gotten his act score, but at 27???
I thought it was funny he brought it up. It wasn’t his ONLY reason for calling, however! I did have a good laugh after we hung up.
Well I'm glad it wasn't the only reason he called at least, hahaha.
Kristy it’s rude to assume the 27 year old isn’t freshly graduating high school! 😢
You're absolutely right, my bad 😂
We ARE from Tennessee. It tracks.
I never took the SATs
I asked the same question recently about IQ. Vaguely remember taking something, don’t remember what results were. Don’t give a shit. If I’d taken SATs same answer. I took the ACTs though, so, also same answer. Carrying these around in your pocket to whip out at parties is odd behavior
This is the third post I’ve seen about this what is happening
nypost.com/2025/07/07/u...
I don’t either. Is this a thing ?!?
only if it's all downhill from there.
Yes but only because I got lectured about it not being higher very very thoroughly.
I don't remember my scores but I do remember my percentiles. I took the SAT because that's what schools in NY wanted. But my parents' residency was in OH, where there was no income tax for military. I was informed I had to go to college in OH, where ACT was used.
It really interested me that my math and English percentiles were within one percentile in both tests. But the ACT showcased my strengths in social studies and science at 98 and 99.5 percentiles. (Versus 87-88 math and 93-94 English) Why do I remember these numbers past retirement? 🤷🏻♀️
I have no idea what mine was. I know it got me into school with a partial scholarship & I went on to get 2 degrees. After that no one cares! It's like the old grad school joke that once you're out of school no one asks what your GPA was as long as you obtain the degree & licensing.
You know what you call a person who graduates bottom of their class in med school?
Dr.
I never even took the SAT or the ACT. I graduated from high school early, went to community college for the first two years, by the time I transferred to a four year nobody cared.
Yep. If you transfer the only thing they care about are your college credits.
I sat a lot. Didn't keep score though. Am I a bad adult?
I don’t remember my psat score but I do remember my principal bitching out me and my friend because we were mad about not making national merit finalist and he thought we were so pathetic lol.
I made semi finalist, and was upset I didn’t make finalist, too! ,
I don't want to talk about it.
lmao no
Only if you are a very insecure dumbass.
I had someone inform me of their reading comprehension level that they tested in school. As an adult; it seems silly.
! I’ll have you know that I’m 63 but I read on the level of a 67-year-old. This is my greatest accomplishment.
I laughed more than expected. I appreciate you.
Also haven't they changed scoring a couple of times?
Idk. I remember mine. No idea why- I just do. Maybe bc I got the exact same score on Math and English? (now you know I am old af😆)
Funnily enough, I remember my SAT score better than my GRE score even though I took the latter twice and more recently. But yes, if you remember it, you are a real sicko and should be mocked and shunned.
Can’t remember my ACT score. I remember I came close to a perfect SAT score and that is has meant absolutely nothing then or now. Drove myself crazy studying for literally nothing.
Everyday! Except I never took them so... No.
I don’t think about it a lot but I know what mine was. Mostly because it was such a surprise.
As a non-American, what does SAT stand for and what is a good score?
Scholastic Altitude Test and "it depends". It's a third party test developed by what's known as The College Board and administered by a company called ETS. It's useless outside of getting into universities. I never took it and I likely make more than the people trying to make a big deal out of it.
Idk rufo has that sweet sweet fidesz money
Scholastic Achievement Test. There’s no set “good score.” Each university sets their own expectations, uses it differently, and many aren’t using it at all anymore.
No.
I remember mine, but just because I remember it, not because it’s relevant. It being a round number helps.
I wouldn’t even know how the hell to find out. I remember some controversy bc we were (among?) the first to write an essay or something? Who knows.
And that is what’s problematic. As an SAT proctor, the test has changed several times the last 25 yrs. Impossible to compare scores from disparate testing designs
I don’t even think that’s the problem. I just think it’s something that doesn’t matter cause I’m 37 years old.
I get that. Point is that it’s difficult to compare test scores when the test changes every few years (you noted the first years of the essay portion being included). I didn’t have that. So is my score fairly compared to yours? No, and I wholly agree with why would anyone give a fuck after age 20?
My understanding is that for the article they looked at the scores that would’ve been average admitted at the time.
I am aware, also. My b for my obv poorly worded response. Noted.
Oh sorry I don’t think it’s actually linked so I didn’t expect you to have read it! It sucks so definitely didn’t assume you had haha
I have read the story. The intrinsic point of the story isn’t exclusive to his contemporaries only. It’s meant to drive comparison to anyone who’s taken any form of it. Exhibit a (I’m aware this is satire)
I bombed the sat's... I got like a 900 or something 🤷🏼♀️ but whatever
You essay kids had it so easy and you didn't even realize it.
How? Did they add even more now?
Obstacle courses. So many obstacles course.
I think I was among the last not to until they stopped doing it. It's all chaos.
I graduated 2006 and took them in 2005.
Okay. Maybe not the last last but in the vicinity Now I feel old. I look too amazing to feel old.
I never took it. I went the ACT route.
“As you grow up in this world you realize that people really don’t give a shit about what you feel or what you think." -- David Coleman, CEO of the College Board 🤷♂️
I vaguely remember a range, but "vaguely remember" and "it's a vibe" are holding hands. This is the only context it ever comes up in, however, as an adult, is wondering if that's something people remember caring about...
Never took them, and life turned out great.
Older folks like me remember because back then it was really REALLY important if you wanted to go to college.
Pretty sure this was true when I took them in 2005.
