How are Republicans okay with massive tariffs, seizing ownership of private companies, and sending armed troops into American cities? These are things that they have spoken out against for more than 90 years. (Since Hoover). Did you have ANY principles that weren't for sale?

Hypocrisy is a feature, not a bug. They will say anything -- including lies -- to get what they want. They have no core beliefs or principles other than power for power's sake.

It’s always been about keeping power to enrich themselves. That’s how you go from abolishing slavery to having the Smithsonian and government agencies remove all references to it.

"Principles" and "Republicans" can no longer live together in the same sentence unless that sentence contains the word "No", is sarcasm or satire. They used to pretend, but Reagan gave the game away in 1980, kicking off his campaign with a speech about state's rights in Philadelphia, Mississippi.

The threat (often ginned up) of these things has been a convenient cudgel to pummel Democrats with, but once MAGA got the whip hand, the threat gave way to Loot City! Moral of the story: it ain’t the principle, it’s the power.

Nope. Republicans have been on a 90 year projection screed. They feared someone else doing to them what they had always planned to do to others.

They haven't realized that all of these things are, can or will happen directly to them. When the negative impact has a direct financial/emotional effect on them, they will whine & cry. These are humans who do not understand why firemen run towards a fire instead of away until their homes r aflame.

Excluding multi-millionaires and billionaires, the allure of trump is his celebrity, the voters hours watching "reality" tv and low-value programming. He speaks to all of their biases, and makes them feel like they're "billionaire-adjacent" because he speaks their language. GOP wants their votes.

I’ve started considering how to stop the advancing internal army of his followers when they invade our cities. What if, when he makes the plan to invade chicago, everyone in town left in the night just before all his forces arrive, just to find an empty husk. Or do we form a ring around town? How?!

People can't do that. Won't do that. The military isn't made up of his followers, it's young men and women who signed up to serve their country and are now in a position of having to follow illegal and unconstitutional orders from an authoritarian leader. They will be our allies eventually.
