I went to an industry party at BEA once and wore Ray Bradbury's name badge the whole time. I was in my mid 40s at the time, and people would look at my badge, then at me, then at my badge, and I go, "I finally got that time travel thing dicked."

The troops and the ICE agents are different. You may be right about the ICE agents, but I don't think we should think that the people who signed up for the military are the same. They don't want to be there, and they are certainly not getting paid the same kind of money.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
They have to do what he says, regardless how they feel about him. They don't have to be convinced or recruited. They are soldiers. When they start murdering Americans it's 100% on the President.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
Unfortunately, they don't have law enforcement training, which is one of the reasons they shouldn't be there. I don't blame them, now, I blame the administration. When they start killing us, I blame them all.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
We are going to need them on our side. Criticize ICE and the administration, absolutely, but the soldiers HAVE to do this, at least at this point.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I was one of those 60s and 70s kids. I had friends who were sent to war without consent, and there was no need to warn about them. Kids forced to do a job they didn't want to do. In this case, no one signed up to unconstitutionally occupy American cities. I don't blame soldiers. It's obey or jail.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I talking about the soldiers. Not ICE.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social)
I'm beginning to suspect that the troops occupying our cities are not so much patriots as paid participants who aren't allowed to say no.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social)
This doesn't look like a crowd made up of "geriatric hippies." The crowds are older during the week because older people often don't have to go to a job during the week. Thank you for your courage and conviction, D.C.

People can't do that. Won't do that. The military isn't made up of his followers, it's young men and women who signed up to serve their country and are now in a position of having to follow illegal and unconstitutional orders from an authoritarian leader. They will be our allies eventually.

How are Republicans okay with massive tariffs, seizing ownership of private companies, and sending armed troops into American cities? These are things that they have spoken out against for more than 90 years. (Since Hoover). Did you have ANY principles that weren't for sale?

We have to put "A.I" in our ads or people will think we're falling behind. But we make candy. We can have A.I. candy. How do you think those M&Ms on TV talk?
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social)
Every ad on TV and many on the web are touting A.I. as an attribute, and often from many products that you wouldn't think it applicable to, like weed killer. It reminds me of 2000 when they tacked "dot com" on everything like they were magic words. Feels bubbly.

Yes. AI has actually made a lot of these things worse for now. I tried Grammerly when they first launched and it didn't work for me because I write so much in dialect. I'd suggest not worrying about grammer on you 1st draft. You can fix it on rewrite once you have a full draft.

Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I don't use a grammar checker, just the spell check in MS Word, so others may have better suggestions. I wouldn't worry too much about how to get published until you've finished something. I broke in so long ago that my knowledge of how to break in is well out of date. Sorry, I'm useless.

Thank you for your response. Your experience speaks volumes. When I asked, I was misinformed about the high percentages (apparently) and I can't find the survey that reported such high numbers, but it was certainly anomalous to anything else I could find. "Under the bus" was never a consideration.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm not making that point. The article did. The point I was making was it is highly unlikely that Brown lost for not being pro-Trans enough in a 3X Trump state.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
It's not push back if you're agreeing with the opposition's ads. Ohio has gone for Trump three times in a row -- they didn't NOT vote for Brown because he wasn't pro-Trans enough.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
But you implied he lost because he didn't project being pro-Trans rights. The article says they beat him because he was pro Trans rights and pro abortion.
Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
This article says that Brown was taken down because GOP ads portrayed him as "pro Trans rights." Should he have pushed back as anti-Trans rights? I like Sherrod Brown a lot. He was my substitute social studies teacher in high school, but Ohio sucks. www.cincinnati.com/story/news/p...

Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I think you're right. I saw it on CNN but I can't find it replicated anywhere. I promise I'm not making it up, but the Trans issue isn't even on the radar for other surveys I found of Trump voters.

Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent

Christopher Moore (@theauthorguy.bsky.social) reply parent
I'm not saying that, but I take your point. Just might not be a bridge we can cross. Okay. What if Mayor Pete or Gavin repent? Say they were just trying to reach that manosphere demographic and it didn't work? (Gavin was performing Gay marriages ten years before Obergfell and the Supremes.)
