RFK Jr needs the rabies vaccine. He's the most rabid human being I've ever seen and makes as much sense as a rabid raccoon. I do agree with you KatOtis!. Responsible pet owners take care of their pets as they do their family members. Vaccinations protect us all.

My Dad had a posting to England in 1957. We had to quarantine our dog for *six months*. Things aren't as extreme now.

Depends on where you are going and how many vaccines your dog has had. Have you checked with the country, to which you are heading? Sometimes, even if currently vaccinated, the destination country will require another 30 days prior to entry.

Rabies is one of the diseases you don't fuck around with. It will kill you and your pets 99.999% of the time. I think there have only been like 30 documented cases of human survival. If you do no other vaccines (and you should) please get your cats, dogs, ferrets, and horses rabies vaccinated.

You will probably not be allowed to take your pets outside thr USA. Lots of boading places/day cares/ect will not let your pets stay. In most states, if your pet is not vaccinated and bites someone it is required by law for them to be euthanized. To test for rabies you must have brain tissue.

My vet cares for my Rita. Last surgery cost but worth $. She is better. I avoid raccoons and wild animals getting near my Rita. She stays inside. A/C. Heat occurs she prefers A/C.

I was a vet tech before I retired & there are more & more people who don’t want to vaccinate their pets. A lot of these people are really afraid of the rabies vax, although I never saw a reaction to that vaccine. It’s a killed vaccine & not likely to cause a problem.

My cat went into anaphalaxis after getting a rabies vax (4 days in the hospital!), but to be fair it turns out he is allergic to a component common across most cat vaxes and I just can't vax him at all :( I live in fear of him sneaking out of the house and being exposed to something.

Pets are individuals, just like people. My daughter, had a severe reaction to the pertussis vax. Was hospitalized for it. She still was vaxed for the dyptheria and tetnus part. Even with your cat's RARE reaction, that does NOT mean vaccines are bad.

My younger daughter had a severe reaction to her very first DPT vax at 6 weeks of age. It was a 1 in 300,000 reaction, likely to the pertussis component. Theoretically it shouldn’t have happened as it was her first vax. She still had the rest of her vaccinations, but she is cautious.
