It's pointing to a communist secret police when the allegory is a fascist paramilitary force terrorizing communities. Brownshirts are far closer in every way. Stasi were hyper-constitutionalist, detecting dissent to consolidate a repressive totalitarian state.

You can cry “authoritarianism” as much as you want, but the fact of the matter is that under capitalism, we know by now where bourgeois “democracy” leads. It leads HERE. Is this your ideal government? or do you think this kind of politics/ideology should be ruthlessly fought? That’s the question.

No one's (at least not me) saying the Stazi were good, but they were a long way from ICE. Trump's regime is white supremacist enacting a goal of ethnic cleansing. The Stazi were driven to protect the communist state by controlling citizen's lives. Very different animals.
