Historically, the US "left" has been to the right of the NZ "right." It wouldn't surprise me if that has changed slightly with our current government, but trying to compare the US and NZ "left" is simply apples and oranges. They are worlds apart.

That is a good point. Maybe my overall takeaway is that people who self-identify as having an ideology in opposition to another ideology are unlikely to be particularly welcoming in general? I’m amazed at how anyone posting about how tolerant their group is never stands up to scrutiny.
There is also a very significant cultural difference to consider, which I do realise you've no particular reason to be aware of, but to NZers, because of disproportionate US presence in both entertainment and social media, is very clear. E.g. We call our *friends* cunts.
Does that extend to being hostile all the time? I mean I can understand profanity/insults, but those seem at least slightly different from being aggressively angry?
Can you give me an example of "aggressively angry"? Because I may have missed something, but to me, it looked like you were given some pretty mild shit.
Oh dear. No. That is neither aggressive nor angry. 😂
You would call them… welcoming?
Stephanie didn't say 'welcoming' - you did. Stephanie didn't say 'tolerant' - you did. She called for solidarity among the NZ left. You're inserting your own words and then arguing with them.
Annnnnnd now you’re changing the subject once you have realized your tactic backfired. How would you define the opposite of divisive? You wouldn’t say “welcoming” or “tolerant”?
No, I'm calling out your straw man, and you don't like it. I'm out.
The first one is simply factual, the second is sarcasm.
It’s interesting that they all took such offense to me taking the same tone as them, then, isn’t it?
