Solidarity within a group requires neither tolerance nor being welcoming of those outside of it. We are not required to tolerate and welcome everyone in order to have solidarity amongst ourselves. I don't know how to make it any simpler for you.

There is also a very significant cultural difference to consider, which I do realise you've no particular reason to be aware of, but to NZers, because of disproportionate US presence in both entertainment and social media, is very clear. E.g. We call our *friends* cunts.
Historically, the US "left" has been to the right of the NZ "right." It wouldn't surprise me if that has changed slightly with our current government, but trying to compare the US and NZ "left" is simply apples and oranges. They are worlds apart.
