The skeins of plumbing on the floor are curious, part of freezing the ice under the pavilion? What a shame to see such a fabulous structure left to ruin.

Exactly right. The freezer system for the ice.
Looks like it was a beautiful place once :(
It was a wonderland!!! Ohhhhh how the heck does this happen? I mean it seems so many places in the Catskills from what I’ve seen at least are just crumbling. I’ve never been there but would love to. I’m hanks for sharing this:)
Shifts in economy, shifts in what families wanted to do. Instead of going local, they all wanted to fly and go abroad. Sad, but I suppose it happens.
Oh! Hey! Didn't the "Proper People" get up to this exact location a few years back? Crying fucking shame that places like this just sit and rot out in the open like this ...
I'm sure they've been here. It's seen a lot of traffic. And sadly, some of that traffic has done serious damage to the place. Including arson.
Another thing I wish would quit goddamn happening ... Obviously the location should be bulldozed so the land could at least return to nature but ... seriously! Stop destroying the abandoned property, hey? The nerve of some people ...
Sadly, its one of those things that go hand in hand with abandonment. Entropy kicks in and humans are ALWAYS a part of that.
glulam-orous!
😁
Great photos! Thank you for sharing them.
Thank you so much!
How is that abandoned?!
The "Borscht Belt" fell apart in the 2000's. It became cheaper to go abroad and the resorts became less popular. They all began to fall apart without the old numbers of people that used to visit.
How do we abandon such amazing architechture in less than a hundred years?
Because our culture is based on throw-away. We always clamor for the new, but never cherish or take care of the old. We seemingly hate our history, in exchange for the latest glossy and shiny fad.
What was the name of this resort, and where is it located?
