what about the raw materials used to make the American products? That’s still coming from outside of the country.
what about the raw materials used to make the American products? That’s still coming from outside of the country.
That’s me. My customers have already been squeezed by inflation. They can’t pay 30% more
Nitpicking!
Details..
Example - paper. It’s made from wood pulp from tress. The paper company may be a US company but they have to import the pulp (raw material) from Canada or China. Tariffs on the pulp has now raised the cost of US made paper. Cars, appliances, aluminum cans, etc. all the same situation.
That was sarcasm, I work in global sourcing and FULLY understand the absolutely CATASTROPHIC implications of this.
Awesome
please don’t apply logic to the regime or risk deportation Thank you
There is not a single living brain cell in this entire administration.
You seemed more capable of being the commerce secretary than this clown!
pfft delusional fuckwit
Nutlick is a fucking moron.
that is and understatement!
I’m going to only be able to think of his name as Nutlick now! Thank you for the laugh.
Omg. I laughed for the first time today. And for some reason I can’t think of his proper name anymore.
This explanation is weak beef, in my opinion.
We had FULL EMPLOYMENT under President Biden. This was not necessary.
What about a cup of coffee Lutnick you putz?
He assumes the domestic companies won’t raise their prices to match the imports for a bigger…. Profit
Until Poland Spring realizes they can raise prices and not hurt their sales significantly because of less competitive marketplace
That's not how this works. If there's less water on the shelf all of them are more expensive.
Also, Fiji water is already more expensive than Poland Springs
And made in the US…
No, Fiji water is bottled in Fiji and shipped here.
Nope, US made
The company is in the US, but the water is most definitely bottled in Fiji and shipped overseas. It is not "US made". So the tariffs will hurt a US company. youtu.be/GBgj-bfA8r0?...
So they bottle water, in plastic, and ship it here? Good lord. The carbon footprint of that water is insane.
They also take fresh water from a small island nation that needs it and sell it here for a jacked up price. Fiji water kinda sucks.
What a crazy nonsense shitfuck 💀
Yes it will because when market prices go up American companies dip into that price increase to pad the profits. Just like once prices go up it's very hard to get them down to where they were before it all started.
China sells@ 5.00 Tariff add 2.50 New price 7.50 USA Co sees that increase So US sells normally @ 7.00 Sees the Tariff and adds only 1.00 (to boost profit)So that new price @8.00 So with higher cost to produce the American companies will still be more expensive and I'm not even talk the gouging.
The only people who win are those who will Rob the Tariff coffers.
We Italians have been there in the 30's, it was called "autarchy" and it didn't end well.
Nutlick is an idiot. Fiji Water is imported and distributed by an American company. He is putting them out of business.
Isn’t Lynda Resnick their friend? She’s the Fiji Water / Pom Wonderful lady who’s cornered all the water in CA.
Dunno. Their political contributions are mostly to CA Dems. Biggest donation is to the DNC. Which could explain a lot...
Hmmm
Idiocracy
You're saying the *demand* for domestic water will go up? But the price will stay the same because..... TRUMP !
Everybody is gonna be drinking water out of the hose by the end of Summer!! Nutlick is in over his head. This isn't a fucking video game. This is real life. You are playing with REAL peoples lives.
As if anyone is worried about affording bottled water, but great analogy
Does he really think Fiji water comes from Fiji Island? What a fucking moron.
Apparently it does. Allegedly. Seems dumb, but it's consistent with the times we live in.
Odds that his stock portfolio only consists of investing in “American” companies?? Btw please don’t buy Poland Spring water… it’s sucking dry the aquifers here in Maine!
Trump graduated from Wharton with a B.S. degree in Economics. Apparently, his sister said he paid others to take his tests. O'Demented One has a B.S. degree. www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...
This guy is the dumbest fuck in the history of dumbfucks.
What a clown
Don’t be fooled the American consumer will pay a kings ransom for everything they’re buying .
Nutlick arrogant and insulting: "For the first time in your lives you're gonna actually think about Americans who make the products." Sounds like he believes he actually thinks, but no one else does?
Big surprise eh! 🤷🏻♀️ Don’t forget dralasangpo, they’re the smartest people in the, 🤔 well, 💁🏻♀️ whichever venue they inhabit! 🤮..🤣
He’s obviously correct – when people hear Poland and Fiji, they know one of those is American. 🙄
🤣
😂
No, I'm thinking about how much of an asshole Howard Lutnick and his boss are.
Stupid logic and totally wrong This is inflationary process 👇 Starts at the middle and becomes spiral 🌀
Or just drink water out of the tap from a glass. It's free. And it's not full of plastics that you're gonna end up breathing in as microplastics. Oh that's right...lead. And no more fluoride. Just drink coke. It'll help end the misery that much sooner anyways
do these guys not study economics? if you decrease competition, prices will go up...
Besides the fact that Poland Springs can and will just raise their prices (because why not?), there's a supply and demand issue here as well. If everyone switches to Poland Springs from Fiji Water, demand for it will skyrocket, driving prices up.
Also Poland is getting expensive too, fuck Europe. We’re only drinking Brawndo now. It’s what Americans crave.
Not only is Fiji Water owned by an American company, but when has Poland Springs EVER been more expensive than Fiji?
Wait till you try to buy coffee for that water!!
Does he think Fiji water comes from..Fiji?!
Less Supply + Same Demand = Same Prices?
Someone should tell whirlpool that. Raised their prices when the stupid boy enacted tariffs his first term. After all, what are you gonna do about it? Buy a foreign made washing machine? No you're not. Not anymore you're not. Now give us your money.
Computer processing boards and other components are not made in America. Assembled in America will incure tariffs. We are a global economy. We rely on partners for a collaboration to make anything.
Trump ran what can best be described as a small family business. He was the ONLY boss. He doesn't have the slightest clue how collaboration works.
He also was in real estate. He doesn't understand manufacturing or supply chains. If you can't source from low-cost suppliers, then you can't sell competitively. Also, foreign competition stimulates innovation at home. Case in point. Automotive!
I think we're headed for an utterly unnecessary economic depression. My dad was born in 1920. So I've heard firsthand how this shit goes. There is no way to prepare. Just brace yourself as best you can. It's going to be awful.
And the foundation was NYC real estate, middle income housing to be exact, a limited finite resource pretty much immune to decreasing demand
And STILL he went bankrupt a half dozen times.
These guys’ reputations are on the line. They have nowhere else to go. Riding a loser straight down.
Water, huh
“May” become? Do these guys have any self awareness?
"Let them drink Poland Springs" I hear it pairs well with cake.
They really only know to insult people “for the first time your lives …” who listens to this clueless jerk?
in*
That man needs a punch in the throat.
Glad to hear someone else say this. More and more I think every GOP MOC his cabinet members and every gop operative better end up in El Salvador when this is all over.
Liar says what?
Where are Nestle water bottles manufactured? Aberfoyle, Ontario. In Canada, Nestlé has two bottling facilities that produce Nestlé Pure Life branded water.
There you go again, with the facts….😉
Fiji water is a premium brand. Poland Spring is not. It's always been cheaper.
The point is he thinks one of them is imported
Now there’s a relatable anecdote! Your average family must spend hours each week deciding which fucking bottle of overpriced water (wrapped in plastic pollution) that the kids should drink this week. SMFH at these obtuse fucking morons!
Big suprise, since it is contained in a plastic bottle we stopped using bottled water due to plastic contamination. We now use filtered water. Bad news - filters come from China 🤨
Nutlick
I wish someone would ask about all trump’s shitty stuff he hawks being made out of our country and not by American manufacturers.
Right? What’s the new Tariff for the branded bibles made in China?🤦🏼♀️
lol, what an idiot. He should look into owns Fiji Water. Spoiler: it’s the Resnicks, who can definitely get fucked.
The water may come from Fiji but the company is American owned. The fact it’s headquartered in LA may have contributed to this ridiculous statement. These people are looney.
And Poland Water is from Maine!!! They hate Maine too! 😂
I give zero fucks about "America made products" I liked having a world where all countries worked together to gain something from one another making everyone more intertwined. I don't want to be separated from the rest of the world like this.
What are you, some kind of Free Trade weirdo?
No, I'm just a guy who wants availability to all the things we've had over the last decade and don't want all of our allies turning on us.
🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯
Goddam Communists, with your goddam sense of community, stupid shared values and your dumb ideas of improving standards of living for everybody everywhere. Don't you know it's all about "winning"?
Jesus Christ was woke
Jesus was a Socialist.
Yes
Friendship is winning
Friendship is a zero-sum game, start tariffs against your friend group when you buy tickets for the group for movies or bring snacks for game night
I don't need Money. I have fwends.
There's no such thing as friendship, just deals. Mutually beneficial deals. That they lose. Coz they're losers.
you forgot the "/s"
Quality of American goods slipped dramatically which contributed significantly to the need for foreign goods. FORD is know as ‘Found On Road Dead’ for a reason.
The awful and erroneously named Wonderful company makes Fiji water. Read up on the robber baron Resnick family that operates that company and you’ll never want to buy Fiji water again.
By the way, we'll all have to be drinking bottled water because there won't be clean tap water anymore starting very soon (and obviously that's already the case in some areas).
bottled water is a great source of microplastics. You're screwed either way.
I only buy water bottled in glass or fizzy water in aluminum cans. They cost more, because they’re heavier to transport and more susceptible to breakage, but I know they’ll be properly recycled. Plastics, not so much.
Shhhh! They will start to charge extra for that.
microplastics in bottled water was a subject 25 years ago that got completely steamrollered by the industry (and their paid politicians).
The plastics industry and the lie of recycling is something else too.
The bottled water has shit in it too
Bottled water comes from a tap.
There are 2 types of bottled water. Purified and Spring. Purified can come from the tap. Spring water comes from natural springs or underground aquifers.
My money is on Lutnick being the first one fired or via some other sort of “conscious uncoupling.”
Fiji and Poland spring are both about a dollar a bottle, now Fiji is $1.50 a bottle Poland Spring will raise their price to $1.40. It’s called capitalism.
Yes exactly. PS probably has a good estimate of what Fiji's margin is and will come in pretty close to that.
It’s obvious
How can this guy be soooooo stupid?
Since when has a 25% increase on a vehicle been considered a little more expensive? Honestly, this guy has shit for brains.
Billionaire brains work that way, they just can’t help it.
Well, first and most importantly, they’ll need to rename it ‘American Springs’
youtu.be/jPl7Rtzwk68?...
He’s the dumbest of dumb
The face of an idiot.
Thanks to protectionism, America may once again be able to produce water.
Fiji Water is headquartered in Los Angeles.
And Poland spring is owned by Nestle. These people assume we know nothing. Millions of us sadly know NOTHING and happily vote for these assholes.
And millions more just shrugged when they were warned of the stupidity
Here's the best part of this whole tariff thing: they are specifically worded so they are based on where a product physically comes from, so even US based companies that use parts or products produced in another country have to pay the tariff. So US based Fiji now has a 32% tariff
Gaslighting. Who makes the bottles for the spring water
So American products were always expensive, which is why we bought other products. What about supply and demand? How will that affect our pricing of American goods? What about companies that take advantage of this shit and will jack up their prices anyway? So dumb.
Wow, what a dickhead. It's called "pricing to market". Zero understanding of either economics or usual business behaviour.
crack smoker
Lutnick- wrong person at the wrong time.
Literally everything will become more expensive. Nothing is made without imports. Nothing.
These people are so fucking evil
Does the government have a magic wand to make factories and goods suddenly appear? How will they raise the funds to put in place all the infrastructure to the factories without raising taxes? Oh, that’s right- they are going to continue with the same old trickle-down bullshit
Seriously! Does he actually believe this?
Do you believe your increased sales to domestic markets will compensate for the lost sales to the global markets?
See how much stock he owns in Poland springs.
Poland Springs is owned by Nestlé.
Which is a Swiss company, I think?
And Fiji Water is owned by an American company. These guys are idiots.
The way he says nowwwww drives me to madness! He's like one of those guys on a stage trying to sell kitchen knives. Total fraudster.
American made products can and do often contain raw materials or parts made in other countries. American products will go up. This is a capitalist country after all.
And where are #TheUltimateGrifter novelty items produced?
Jesus H Christ! What a total idiot. Of course domestic prices will go up. What a tool!!!
Poland Spring (not "Springs") packages its water in plastic bottles - largely made from PET. The top exporter of PET is China and the top importer of PET is the US. Plastic bottles are going to get more expensive, so bottled American water is going to get more expensive.
Again, a rich MFer saying shit about how we'll just have to deal with the pain when he's not gonna feel any of it. #EatTheRich
Fiji water sucks
MAGA hats up 65%
Never knew Poland Springs and Fiji water was priced the same? Even the most basic apples to apples comparison these Fox dip shits can't get right.
What a dumbfuck - where does the plastic come from?
But US cars will be more expensive, since they use foreign parts. 🤷
I just won't buy bottled water then (not that I ever have).
This guy is a fucking idiot. If you don’t live in the northeast you can’t get Poland Spring water. And where do companies get their bottles and other packaging supplies? And trucks to deliver water? Gas to power the trucks?
Exactly. Most products, even U.S.-grown or made, involve elements or packaging that may not come from the U.S. For better and worse, we live in a GLOBAL economy.
There's every indication that the MAGAt Nutlick is not very well informed about much of anything, especially the economy. Not a total idiot, perhaps, but very likely a semi-moron.
Fiji Water is a brand of bottled water owned by the American conglomerate The Wonderful Company- headquartered in Los Angeles, California DumbAsAGopher
Yeah because no American products are ever made with foreign components 🤦🏼♀️
To ship bottled water you need: bottle, label, ink, printers, assembly lines, packing materials, boxes & labels for shipment, pallets, straps, equipment to load trucks Any part of that goes up, so does the water. And that's not even a comprehensive list. Rich ppl don't get it cuz they never worked it.
Or… But the ultra-Rich people get it and lie about it to everyone because it will make them even more rich
I used to think ultra rich get how things work but they don't. Most ppl who don't work in processing/warehouses don't understand what it takes to make or ship things. Ultra rich just lie about everything and ppl accept it cuz they have money. It's weird.
I mean the ultra-rich just get material costs have gone up this month/quarter, so need to raise prices to offset. I agree that they mostly don’t have the foresight to be proactive , but they sure know how to be reactive.
Lutnick is even worse because he’s animated by a bizarre “good for Israel” eliminationalist revenge fantasy.
Plus if the cost of all the other bottled waters went up, you might as well raise your prices, too. Plus costs for other shit has gone up so the workers who bottle the water need higher wages, which increases the domestic water production cost. Tariffs are inflationary.
But the water itself will be cheaper!!!
Like. I know this is sarcasm. And I appreciate it. But the dark side to this is the water will be more expensive cuz as the demand goes up so will the cost. Yea. So effectively...the tariffs made American goods cost more.
Who wants to bet that Poland Springs water raises its prices also?
For this, read all US producers to try to salvage their rapidly sinking share value
I just saw a line around the block with sleeping bags outside supermarkets, with fist fights to get through the doors before the American water flies off the shelves. You see, American water has 3% lead in it at no extra cost, w/choice of leaded or unleaded. New Musk startup makes powdered water.
But a nation government that is removing protections means I would not want to touch any US products at the moment with a bargepole. Then there will be profiteering.
I just drink tap water. Plastic bottles are not environmentally friendly.
Good luck with Zeldin now running (ruining) the EPA. They want to force you into drinking bottled water.
All part of the plan. Poison drinking water so you are forced to buy crappy domestic bottled water.
I really feel like the are culling the population by making us poor & sick so only the wealthy & “super intelligent” survive & they can live their sci-fi dystopian nightmare. Does that sound too far off? Look at the cuts to CDC.
It’s exactly that. It’s eugenics but none of them have the balls to call it that.
The guy is an absolute moron. As if. How did these people ever make so much money in the first place?
BTW Poland Spring is just swamp water pulled from Maine wetlands and driven via tanker truck to their bottling factory. Please just drink your tap water, it's of higher quality and more regulated.
And I guarantee the bottles they use to package that water are imported. So Poland Spring will still be impacted by tariffs.
For now.
For now
Don't tell me what to think, Buttlick. Get bent, MF'er
Spoiler alert….more American workers make Toyotas, Hondas and Kia’s than they do Ford, GM and Dodges. These people are Fucking nuts!
Lutnick is a bullshit spitting toady
Neanderthal says what? Good god Lutnick is a moron.
Howard has a net worth of between $2 and 4 BILLION dollars. And he has the nerve to tell us how we should shop for water? He clearly doesn’t get that many working class people have refillable water bottles and we fill them as needed from drinking fountain bottle fillers. Take a seat Howard.
Someone want to tell BlowHard NutLick where coffee comes from: Brazil: 10% tariff Colombia: 10% tariff Vietnam: 46% tariff Indonesia: 32% tariff Honduras: 10% tariff Mexico: 25% tariff (as of March 4, 2025) Peru: 10% tariff Ethiopia: 10% tariff Guatemala: 10% tariff
You left out Costa Rica: 10% and Venezuela: 15% Anyway, global coffee prices are due to go up again this year, plus the so called 'tariffs' … cup of Joe is going to be crazy expensive for y'all in the USA. www.fao.org/newsroom/det...
I just hope there's an exemption for Colombian coca leaves & heroin imports because it's unfair to make RFK pay double just to get another hit of crack.
Don Jr. snorting up all the cocaine.
To be fair, what Americans do to coffee is a crime anyway.
🤣🤣 So so true!
But … it’s the breakfast of champions 😭🏆💯
Won't you boil me water, fill up my cup? You know it takes a lot to keep me up Down in Bolivia the people are insane They want as much for Java as they do for cocaine Don't try to cheat, it's impossible to beat The only pick me up that's here to stay Java Blues, coffee's got me Java Blues, coff...
So you’re going to pay American workers more now since they’ll become critical, right? Right?
So I’m guessing Nutlick has bought American for his entire life.
So not only did his moronic boss invent the term “groceries”, he has now invented the slogan “Buy American”. What would we do without him…..aside from “live long and prosper” (a phrase I invented BTW).
He is a useful idiot
Wow. A guy equally as stupid as trump is the Commerce Secretary.
What an idiot. This administration is clueless about American companies.
My man, we'll be lucky if we can afford tap water by the end of the year.
Especially after the dip shit in chief have the army corps of engineers waste future irrigation water in California. That water was intended to irrigate crops during the summer. Megalomaniacs Are Governing America
We’re lucky if tap water is safe to drink by the end of the year.
This!
If leaded water was good enough for the Roman Empire, it's good enough for us!
The water salespeople don't want tap water to be safe. They want to sell you more Poland Spring and Dasani. Enjoy!
BOOM 💥💥
Of course, how did I not see how simple it was before. This guy smells his own farts.
This is a lie.
Less competition never causes prices to go up. So many stable geniuses here.
What a moron, I guess he believes that everything made in the USA doesn't require supply chains or parts from other countries. Besides, he must think everyone is as stupid as a typical fox viewer when he lies that American companies won't raise their prices to closely match imports.
OMG. Did he even take econ in school?
Most of the REST of the world is going to actually think about the Americans who screwed up the global economy. The wealthiest nation on earth, having impoverished most of its citizens in order to make the 1% even more grotesquely wealthy, is cutting its ties to the rest of the world
to bring on even more austerity for the working class and more tax cuts and wealth for the owning class. Just how do the owners of everything get away with this? They own our news, too. medium.com/@bj.chippind...
For the first time in my life, I’m thinking about how little the elite billionaires will care about Americans’ pain.
This guy is so fucking dumb it's almost punishing.
He just looks like an annoying F***
I don't know how. I mean I'm certain he has financial interests in the stock market. Given that the russel 2000 index was down almost 6.5% today my guess is that, unless he's the greatest stockpicker in history, most of his portfolio lost a shit ton of money today. What's he got to celebrate?
Fits right in.
Can’t wait to buy that American Scotch whisky oh wait
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Stupid doink Trumpublicans will buy this shit excuse, too.
America with no standard to keep Americans safe, no FDA, increased sewage in drinkable water...Let the gastrointestinal issues begin. As a Canadian, so happy we have standards, cause E coli. listeria, et al, recalls from US products may go off the charts.
So Lutnik has never heard of capitalism?
I use a water filter so I don’t have to waste plastic. But if I did need bottled water- Fiji every time
Mr Wonderful wannabe
God damn, STFU.
So Trump’s chief economist does not understand the economic law of supply, demand, and selling price????? Be afraid. Be very afraid.
No, of course the American companies won’t be gouging… Looking at you Perdue www.reuters.com/legal/litiga...
Except that there's nothing keeping the "domestic" company from raising prices to make their CEO compensation skyrocket
Uhmmmm, no. Companies will raise the prices of domestic goods as well but undercut imports just a little to make people think they're getting a deal bc... greed. We will pay more for everything, no matter where it's made. I can't believe I have to live on the same planet with maga morons.
Water is such a lazy example. Try toasters or washing machines that require parts made in other countries. How about that 10$ Old Navy t-shirt. Do you really want to pay 20$ because it is made here?
It won't even be made here. Functioning factories don't just appear at will.
Exactly!
Yes, exactly. Those factories we do have aren't going to make that 10$ shirt just because we don't get them from another country anymore. The ability to buy that item is just gone.
You can best believe if I could cross my fingers, nod my head, and grant wishes, it wouldn't be factories topping my list!
Ikr?!
You forgot the most important part.... the blink 😂😂😂
No wonder it has never worked for me. Gosh dangit.
Get your sharpie and draw them on the map, problem solved!!!
Sharpies for the win!
Completely agree. Labour costs are much cheaper in America than they are in China. So if I buy a pair of Nike shoes made in America then they are likely to be much cheaper, unlike in China where the high labour costs will be passed on to the consumer.
Yeah, do they think we’re stupid? The wages demanded here make opening up factories here untenable. They’d have to charge much more for any American made goods and it’s not gonna happen.
Prices are NOT determined by what it costs to produce. Prices are determined by supply and demand. If the price of the foreign product increases, then the domestic producers will raise their prices to match.
Not to mention the domestically produced materials (say, rubber), readily available and at low cost, to make these American-made shoes.
Ahh yes. I was just hiking the other day thru the rubber tree forest in New Hampshires glorious white mountains.
I'm sure he chose that example because it's a domestically available raw good. The water is in the ground under U.S. soil. But I don't think bottled water is a significant enough portion of the American economy to offset all of the industries that will get hammered by price increases.
Also the plastic for the bottle itself (wich is the biggest cost to produce water bottles) is most likely not from the US...
You think Nike shoes are made in America?
I was being sarcastic.
😆
how in the hell do these people get to be rich? it's definitely not because they are smart.
I worked very closely with one of these “oligarchs” for 3 years. Stupidest man I ever met. Until I met his kid that will inherit it all.
Fraud.
Grifting and Agnorance go a long way.
He can't be that stupid, can he? Prices will absolutely go up.
Looking forward to my North Dakota coffee beans!
Or Alaska avacado? 🤔
That’s because the Poland Springs water magically places itself in bottles and arrives at markets without the use of petroleum products… /s
Oh yeah American companies wouldn’t raise their prices to match imports goods to make more profit …..noooooooo
…which is exactly what happened last time Trump imposed tariffs on steel, for instance. Stares at the steel roof that cost me a bunch more despite being US steel anyway. Supply and demand, how does it work?
Like this shit is basic fucking economics, and hell I only got a B- in my economics class right now and I tell him that shit is not going to happen. I used to think billionaires must be these geniuses, but hell no.
💯
Just what I came to say!
Exactly
Not to mention, most American goods use at least some foreign goods as inputs into their products. Raise the cost of inputs => raise the cost of outputs.
And most US compagnies dont manufacture 100% of their produce from US goods and ressources like its example, where do you think US plastic come from?
Even if US Companies were perfectly moral and wanted to keep prices down, demand for their products would skyrocket.
But if American companies can’t keep up with the demand then American consumers will look for imports for their things and they will be more expensive
Running this through the GOP BS translator: "Poland Springs is absolutely going to raise its prices, too."
Or… and bear with me… we just stop buying stuff all together because everyone is out of a job as a result of your idiotic economic policies.
Domestic goods do become more expensive because the demand curve shifts
That, plus lots of domestic goods use foreign-sourced parts/materials and the price of those inputs will be skyrocketing.
Yes, and... Yes and, If 🇺🇸 productX is on the shelf for $4, and 🇨🇳productX is on the shelf for $5... ...the🇺🇸product will start selling for $4.50 or $4.75 because #Profits
$4.99 They will squeeze us for every penny they can get!
Isn't Fiji Water owned by an American company?
Umm. Not exactly. That new car that you wanted to buy has parts that come from Canada. So the total sticker price will include the tariffs that had to be paid when they imported the parts.
American companies would be mad not to increase their prices as well.
They’re dipshits if they do. Watch demand for everything crater, across the board.
Sorry about the tariffs. We’re confused too on why you were a target.
Yeah given yesterday's news the nickname is kinda fitting:D
corporations have a duty to maximize profits, so when foreign goods become more expensive domestic manufacturers raise their price to match, and so their profits rise. only the consumer loses.
Yeah like at least 25% you fucking nut job
Bottom line is that if all this was so good for our businesses then the stock market wouldn’t be reacting like this. The proof is your vanishing 401k.
So when American producers can't possibly meet demand, it won't do anything to pricing, I'm sure.
Who makes the bottles that Poland springs uses? I'd not be surprised if that costs more than the contents.
But when you fire the people making sure the water is safe…
The interesting thing about Lutnick is that someone as dumb as he is led a massive accounting company for decades. Thus proving the limited value that most CEOs actually provide.
The whole reason we buy so much imported stuff is because IT IS CHEAPER than domestic goods.
So much for free trade. Fuck the republican party.
no "may" about it. will cost way more.
Poland springs is owned by nestle. Fiji water is American owned
He’s a fucking idiot
Yeah not concerned either way about paying a tariff on something that comes to me for free out of the tap. 🤦♂️
😂 Lutnick is so stupid. If prices go up on imported goods, you can be damn sure US companies will raise theirs as well.
Because they ALWAYS do!!!
Does this guy actually understand anything about "commerce"?
Now do coffee, dumbass.
Aah, time to caffeinate. Thanks for the reminder
he’s not smiling today. is that a sign?
If you think that companies won’t raise prices on American made goods, I don’t know what to tell you, Howie. You’re either stupid or a liar.
Stupid! Pick me! Stupid for 100,Alex!
bsky.app/profile/joni...
Both! He is a stupid liar or a lying idiot stupid!
I’m pretty sure he’s both 🤬
Definitely both.
Accurate
No one is going to be able to AFFORD bottled water, you entitled dipshit.
And with RFK Jr in the driver’s seat, we’ll be lucky to get potable water out of our taps
No he’s going to make water great again returning us to the golden age of water. Out with the fluoride and back in with the arsenic, lead and asbestos.
Don't forget dysentery and giardia.
Diarrhea has a way of cleansing the body, patriot!
If they manage not to kill you, they will try to bankrupt you.
Or disappear you.
Which is why I plan on brewing my own beer 😎
I need to look into bootlegging. It will be an in demand business
Well there’s the show Moonshiners. And I’m sure you can find distilling guides out there. Check out the library (while you can) or Abebooks for used books 👍 Have your friends plant fruits for the distilling process.
Do NOT use Moonshiners as a a guide. My grandfather's family were moonshiners in the Depression and my dad watches that show for comedy. If you follow that as a guide, you will kill people.
lol, totally agree. I have a general idea of distilling but not specific knowledge. Think I will hit Abebooks for a couple Books just in case, lol. In Russia I had watermelon vodka, so there’s a plan 🤣😂
I’m selling my house in Texas (wish me luck!), going to Illinois. Looking at houses, saw a “grow” set up in the basement, lol. That could be a nice set up.
I am thinking about hydroponics too but grrr, the electricity bill
Can I just make prison hooch? /s Childhood home was built on an orchard with every fruit you could think of: apples, plums, apricots, concord grapes, raspberries, cherries, lemons, tangerines, figs plus almonds & avocados Now I live in a townhouse with a postage stamp sized patio that gets no sun
There might be a park with an old orchard around that you can pick from. My grandpa use to send us to the neighbor hood park to grab the yucky looking ones to make cider in the fall.
They paved paradise and put up a parking lot here In Silicon Valley, love it but sometimes yeah, I don't
Well, boo. I have a small yard, but selling and getting a place in Illinois with a bit more room. Plan on planting stuff there.
There are great new mini varieties available and fruits trees to great espaliered. I have 2 mini thornless raspberries in containers on my balcony that produce all summer.
Yeah, hubs and I are exploring that. We have a Juliet balcony that could produce some stuff. I was thinking herbs but raspberries sound divine!
Good luck on your move! Hope you grow all kinds of good stuff when you get there 😊
And zeldin wants that dirtier
American products will increase because the shelf price sets the standard. the tariffs aren't itemized, the sticker is just the price you pay, and if we've learned nothing else, profit over everything
yeah, cool...so what about products that can't be grown/made in the US, like coffee?
You should drink tea! Let me just check where tea is grown... Fuck.
We buy the same brand of coffee. A year ago it was $13 for 32 oz. Then shrinkflation made it the same for 28 oz. Two months ago it went up to $15. My husband picked it up last night and it was $18. So much winning. Those prices are coming right down. 🙄
I live in Asia, so this isn't a me problem. But I feel for you guys. I was born/raised in Virginia, so I'm over here praying for you.
I have zero sympathy for us.
Make chicory coffee great again?!?
Nice try, though.
This is why it's important to buy local teas.
American manufacturing is functionally non-existent. And no one can afford to build factories in the US.
Guess again, dumb ass.
a reporter should ask him how much he'll be personally profiting because of the misery inflicted on others by these tariffs.
Bingo!! Just like every other jackass in this corruption ring masquerading as our admin. that 75 million morons voted for.
And buying up bargain basement stocks. It's almost like they crashed the stock market on purpose, just to have a fire sale for their billionaire friends before they rewind all the measures and the index will go back up.
.....Fiji water is an American owned company ....
Except that Americans simply don't make most of the products we consume. That isn't an available solution.
I’m just an idiot with who took a single economics class decades ago but even I know that most of the point of import taxes (aka tariffs) is to let domestic manufacturers jack up their prices to match.
And the demand for that product will make it more expensive.
If the domestic producers are, in fact, capitalists, the domestic goods will go up in price. Why wouldn't they raise the price. "Drill, baby, drill" is the same concept. Are domestic producers going to sell below world market prices?
I don’t get why they don’t understand this. Why would the domestic companies not raise their prices? Out of the goodness of their hearts?
Net Worth of people telling us we have to go through a recession: Elon: $345b Trump: $5b Lutnick: $2b Kevin OLeary: $400m Tucker Carlson: $50m Laura Ingraham: $40m Greg Gutfield: $28m Steve Bannon: $20m Jeanine Pirro: $14m Jesse Watters: $10m JD Vance: $10m Russell Vought: $10m Dana Perino: $6m
Felon could have invested $400M from daddy in a boring balanced 60/40 mutual fund in 1980 and he would have $28.5B So all the people he stiffed, all the people he conned, all the grifting, all the bankruptcies, all the failed products and fraudulent companies later he only has $5B? Some genius!
I'll repeat for those in the back. If for one second you think retailers won't raise prices on USA made goods and blame it on tariffs, you need to WAKE UP!!
It's literally called supply and demand.
Because the grocery storte will have plenty of empty shelves to put more water on.
What a clown
But you're giving the American producer a ceiling to raise their prices also.
God this idiot couldn't run a bath!!!
Ass kisser has no idea what he’s talking about
Just more BS information from another mouth representing the American Know Nothing Party.
What about Penguin books?
I see what you did!!! Deserves a follow
Smirk
I have the distinct impression that Trump and his advisors aren’t thinking about the people that make American goods.
The U.S. can’t grow: Coffee Chocolate Rice Tropical fruits Avocados Most spices Many nuts Etc Note: most farmers in the US are not vegetable farmers
The US actually can grow rice, not sure it can grow as much we consume though
Drive car from elonskaya! You don’t need that shit anymore! Tesla is like coffee, rice, or chocolate! American glue and Tesla is all you need
It doesn't matter for Lutnick and his 1% buddies. They'll be enjoying big tax cuts while the 99% of us will just have to go without.
We grow a lot of rice (mostly CA, TX, MS, AR) and are a net exporter.
Actually California does produce avocados, rice, coffee, nuts, and maybe some of the others. Im not denying the mess we’re in, but please be accurate with your claims.
Nope they don't grow rice and coffee. and none of the others.
I personally know someone in SoCal growing coffee. I can drive by rice fields within an hour of my home in the Sacramento valley, but okay.
Can confirm rice is grown in California, and some use organic methods to do it
Mass produced for the entire country?
I believe CA is one of the largest global producers of rice…
nope, it isn't even the largest in America
Huh, they do come in second to Arkansas. I guess the ag guy was talking out his ass... Interestingly, we produce enough rice to almost double our annual consumption. So, with the tariffs, exports will likely take a hit.
Yep. Our delta region is one of the largest rice producers in the entire world.
It's really amazing how they've reduced the amount of water needed, too. Amazing work to flatten the fields.
I keep seeing people repeat this list and it’s not accurate. We grow rice. We grow avocados. We grow oranges. We grow limes and lemons. What we can’t do is make sustainable for US wants.
All the produce getting boycotted in Canada can be diverted to US markets.
they can grow some of these things, except they don't because other countries do it cheaper, or the farmers or agribusiness know they can make a better profit growing corn or something. And it takes years for some of those plants to reach maturity.
We grow avocados, rice, and fruits here. The southern states and California grow many of those. I’m against the tariffs, but be realistic in your criticisms.
ENOUGH FOR THE ENTIRE FUCKING COUNTRY?!
no, but like they were just saying that theres a difference between "cant be grown" and "can only be grown in very specific places that would make giving it to the whole country extremely difficult, if not impossoble"
I just did a bit of reading, and you are correct that, for example, the vast majority of rice consumed in the US is grown domestically.
The only state that grows coffee is Hawaii (only Kona) and they aren’t going to make enough for the whole country even if they wanted to. The issue is we don’t have enough places we can grow the amounts of many things we want year round. And we don’t have enough ppl that want that kind of job.
Oh for sure, you guys are toast if you actually pursue this MAGA Juche nonsense.
Actually we grow very little of avocados and rice. And good luck finding a whole lot of fruits in Dec and Jan.
The brand of rice I buy is literally grown in California. It’s sold nationwide. Then there’s golden rice of the Carolina’s. Wild rice of the Midwest. Her statement was inaccurate.
Funny. Huge bags at Costco aren’t domestic. Sad.
I buy cal rose rice at Costco. It’s literally grown in California. Your arguments need to be accurate to be accepted.
Wild rice is not actually rice.
Ok. Her statement was still not accurate
It’s a lot more accurate than yours, but go ahead and pay through the nose for the precious few avocados and rice this country cannot sustainably grow for 330 million citizens.
I’m against the tariffs, but you’re just wrong.
I think we grow an abundance of nuts!
“Let them eat corn syrup.” —Howard Lutnick, probably.
"Pour it all over our strong, beautiful beef."
“Put corn syrup on your corn flakes and corn on the cob while eating beautiful beef. With no spices, though.”
All those conservatives who used to yell about "Soy Boys" are going to have a bunch of soy bean guacamole recipes to share
Tofu for everyone
Freedom Meat!
I get your point, but we grow coffee and pineapples in Hawaii; rice, avocados and tree nuts in California. The issue is that we don't grow enough of it to meet what American's want
Lol they think that companies will maintain prices and won’t price gouge for profit and blame it on the tariffs. Remember when we had the option to choose a candidate with an economic plan and a anti-price gouging policy? Smh
Yelling.....BULLSHIT‼️‼️‼️
