Every time someone does this, I remind myself they ran this playbook on Mastodon. On the one hand, it’s funny to see people who left Masto over not being instant celebs talk seriously about “community,” but on the other, it’s an important distinction that BlueSky purposely catered to those posters!

I know I don’t fully understand the economics of BSky but it sure makes me think of the old SNL parody add for the First CityWide Change Bank. How do they make money on making change? “Volume.”

Everything from the UI to the invite codes was built to make it a frictionless experience for big accounts to come over. That was a smart move on their part! People like this guy are just signaling an inability to deal with any kind of experience that doesn’t continually massage their egos.
