I'd say that's a good book. He seemed to have an interesting life

He really did Louise! A contradictory dude (like us all), he was both hellraiser and intellectual, laconic observer and extrovert performer. If half the stuff detailed in here is true, he had a willllllld ride of a life…
Must grab it youtu.be/saE16lOjE9E?...

💯
One of my favourite albums which he made after the critics panned “Night Of The Hunter” - one of my favourite films.
Yes! God, haven't watched that in ages. Must have a look and see if I can access it
It’s a cracker! There’s a few of his earlier films which I really want to seek out now. Availability is a bit patchy though…
I'll ask my dad. Bet he has it and he can put it on a magic stick for me. He loves Mitchum
You can have it after me mate. I read about his singing ‘talent’… 🤣😬
Yay 🙂
It’s the music he’ll be remembered for… youtu.be/m8eAWwthRCY?...
We're just chatting about his music career. Interesting fella
I loved it. Your adjectives are right on the money. His Ava Gardner biography is also as good.
I looked up his other books and that is one that seems to be readily available. I would love to read his book about Sam Fuller but that seems to be trickier to get… Thoroughly enjoying it so far 👍
I've not read Sam Fuller. It looks good. Johnny Rossellini bio is as wild as you'd hope it would be. I've actually read the Mitchum bio 3 times now. It's so much fun. A bit sad Lee Server has gone.
The Johnny Rosselli book looks great. I always remember James Ellroy’s use of him in his books and thinking ‘I wonder what he was really like?’. I must look out for it!
He really could. There’s a loose grammar to his writing which feels utterly natural - you can hear the cadences in your head as you read…
I had only one other book of his, on pulp fiction (books), and it just crackled with energy. Lost it in some move...
I will certainly look for more of his work now.
Oh, just looked him up. Also have his Sam Fuller book, which was the first of his I got and then looked for more. Forgot about it! I bet his Ava Gardner bio is terrific too!
Bloody hell - a Sam Fuller biography?! Right up my strasse…
Film is a battleground. Been about 25? years since I read it. not a straight bio, kind of a critical look at his work, I seem to recall...🤔
Yeah, it doesn’t seem to be in print or readily available. Will look for secondhand copies 👍
I love that structure. Surprisingly brief, given the range and extent of his career! Cheers for the elaboration 👍😎
