I would have loved to write my thesis on Wilfred Owen and the war poets because I was a 21 year old romantic obsessed with these talented poets cut off in the prime of their youth, but mine was a guided thesis and my advisor put the kibosh on it. Can’t quite remember why.

The trade off, at least at my university, was that guided theses were generally shorter and only needed to be defended to your thesis advisor and classmates rather than a whole bunch of professors. At least I got to write my thesis on all the terrible characters in the book…

I would love to believe that cause it’s easier to think it’s fake support than to believe half of our country is ok with this. But the reality is I work with all MAGA from a variety of states. They exist and there’s a lot of them. And the very worst part? You can’t reason with them.

They want us to believe he ‘won’ with a mandate. Same thing as 2016. That election was rigged in his favor and so was 2024. They were counting on Democrats to concede and ensure the peaceful transfer of power Biden didn’t receive. They underestimate the will of the American people.

I would bet a lot of people won’t want to admit they were wrong or will stay willfully ignorant of the realities so they don’t have to face what their vote meant. Until the Democrats figure out a way to counter the Fox News brainwashing, I just don’t see many people who voted GOP switching sides.
