That seems insane. He's the most talked about Democrat hands down no matter the context. It's not a Bluesky thing. He isn't "campaigning." He's fighting for democracy after Trump invaded Los Angeles. That was the turning point for him.

He's always campaigning. As a former Californian I can tell you he takes whatever position he thinks will poll best, and claim it's his new set of principles.

Ever since he decided to run for President he's been veering right to try to distance himself from California's lefty reputation. He used to be pro-trans before he started quashing trans rights bills and paling around with Steve Bannon and Charlie Kirk.

No California governor has had a veto override in two generations. Part of that is the governor does the dirty work for the legislature by vetoing some bills. All he's been talking about is democracy this summer. Is that a right wing thing? Of course not.

For that to be true Newsom must have access to special polling 90% of them don't. There are 23 Democratic governors. Only 3 are standing up to Trump. It's a similarly anemic ratio in Congress.
