Honest question: what does he mean that he "gave his life to Christ" there? Is that just a phrase meaning he made a commitment to himself in the parking lot? Or did he do something tangible, like convert during a meeting someone was holding in the lot or did he like get baptized in the barrel?

Y'know, I'm not sure. I assumed he meant that he made a personal commitment, but that might not be true. He could have been meeting with missionaries as well.
