As a keen naturalist always interested in discovering new species your website is my first port of call to check status and distribution. I’ve always assumed that the various societies involved in biological recording would routinely share data with NBN in order to support science & conservation.

It's great to know you enjoy using the NBN Atlas. We currently have 185 data partners who share their data with us registry.nbnatlas.org Whilst we always encourage the sharing of data, we also recognise that some organisations have their own valid reasons for sharing or not sharing.

the complexities of data ownership and permissions (and monetary value) have dogged the NBN project since inception.
