Just got a mailer, open house for the Minneapolis Democracy Center. Unrelated to proposed uses and current city administration, the name just rubs me the wrong way. Something Soviet/Authoritarian about it…

… A kind of “you’re asking a lot of questions about whether this is a democracy already answered by the fact we have a ‘Democracy Center.’” Call it City Hall South Campus or something. Especially if it’s mainly a way to repackage a police precinct, big “re-education” vibes.
