values, gun rights, states' rights Libertarian messaging that was coded for popular appeal but was really in service of the anti-tax, anti-regulation interests of business and the super rich Military losses in Vietnam and Iraq that were generally demoralizing (though not per se the fault of 2/4
the military) Scientific advances that flew in the face of beloved biblical narratives 50 year effort of conservatives to pack SCOTUS with conservatives 50 year effort of conservatives to gain control of state legislatures 50 year plan to build a national conservative media machine A plan 3/4
(Project 2025) developed over at least 40 years by conservative think tanks to take advantage of the above trends and shove the United States into a system of one party rule That's where we are now. It's really a class war. And if history is any guide, those behind it won't go quietly. 4/4
