I thought about this timing recently because there have been some clearly planted stories about Thiel buying crypto. They even use photos from that same conference in 2022. It would be very funny if they’re hyping crypto while he sold at the top again.

You can make real money in crypto if you buy low and sell high. Unfortunately that’s never how it works out for normal people, who buy when the price is high and hyped up, like it is now. That’s when guys like Thiel cash out and leave everyone else holding the fake money. Rinse, repeat.
Oh—I would love see folks who got rug pulled by Trump or melania crypto/memecoin sue. Though straight up straight forward mass class action for emoluments clause violation. But also civil suits and in support of removal.
this is implicitly assuming a fair market, which it is not. insider trading, frontrunning, "technical issues" when people want to sell, straight up fraud....

It's worse than that. They manipulate prices by promoting shitcoins they hold and subsequently dump. Suckers get left holding thin air.
These guys can time shit better than anyone based on the data they have. It’s why I think AI could be “unprofitable” but exist for a lot longer than any reasonable person might expect. Imagine the insights OpenAI has from people asking questions like “should I sell my bitcoin” and “second mortgage?”
