I think it makes sense to tell people you play often how to beat it so you can work on counterplay

That’s the common and agreed benefit but I have found it’s missing something If I was always telling people everything and they get stronger and I get 3rd, but when I stop, I get 1st, who deserved to win that? And will they not be disproportionately motivated by Actually Losing in comparison?
I mean maybe? But if you never train with people who know the matchup then your counterplay will be underdeveloped. Also it's worth considering that not everybody's primary goal is winning the tournament. For example I just want to play well and see my friends do well
Yeah of course None of these are new ideas to me I’ve spent six calendar months this year fervently training one player across multiple FGs and genres I need something different from my potent competition, and I now believe it’s often uniquely valuable to not do their work for them
See that's an interesting situation, I could definitely see why you're saying that now. I guess save that shit for nationals is back lol
It manifests differently here bc it’s more like “don’t break your staple tools” I use many things that have answers that no one solves, even when it’s being used in open air
