Last year I had to call a plumber (water main burst), and I was talking to an AI "associate" for a while before it repeated itself and I asked if it was AI and it said that would refer me to a human. The voice was so normal, it was scary!

I have this love hate thing with AI chat... On one hand it gets to the point quickly (something I struggle with) and answers my questions without a bunch of fluff, jargon, or corporate speak, on the other hand I recently saw a report that showed some people's electricity bills have tripled... 1/2
All bc they live "near" an AI data center (within 300 miles). The argument was that while companies like Google & Meta are making a fortune off AI, regular people are subsidizing it. So really, we're being screwed multiple times. Our environment, our pockets, & our communities. 2/2
