So is the message that we should have capitulated to China? Do they understand what China is doing here? Do they actually think about what they're saying for more than three seconds? Honest to Zeus, you guys...

MP John Barlow: PM Mark Carney previously stated that removing Chinese tariffs on Canadian canola, pork, and seafood was a priority. But instead of progress, the situation has only worsened. Beijing's newly announced tariffs over 75 percent on Canadian canola seed is yet another unjustified attack on our farmers. Canadian producers are bearing the cost of Liberal broken promises and their failure to diversify markets. The time for action is now. We must stand up for our Canadian farmers. Quoting Pierre Poilievre: Beijing’s newly announced tariffs of over 75 percent on Canadian canola seed are yet another unjustified attack on our farmers. This new and disastrous tariff is on top of the 100 percent tariffs previously imposed in March on Canadian canola meal and oil, peas, and 25 percent tariffs on pork and seafood products, effectively locking our producers out of their market. China is the second largest customer for Canadian canola, behind only the United States. These punitive new measures will devastate Canada’s canola exports to China, which totalled $5 billion last year, and damage our agri-food trading relationship. Prime Minister Carney is losing and Canada is paying the price. He has failed to get Beijing’s tariffs lifted; failed to support our farmers and seafood producers. And now, the tariffs are getting worse. Mark Carney told us he was a master negotiator who could diversify our markets. Yet he is losing trade wars all around the world, as Canadian farmers, seafood producers, auto, steel, aluminum and other workers are paying a terrible price. We stand ready to work with the government to fight and remove these tariffs and restore markets for our farmers and businesses. The time for action is now.

They say whatever they think will score points at a given moment & feel unbound to what they say from moment to moment. Their ideology and much of their identity is unmoored from reality. They react. Pounce. Go for the jugular. Every email I get from them you’d think it was as Oct 1962 every day.

PP says inaccurately that the 75% Canola "anti-dumping" tariff applied by China is "on top" of the 100% "temporary tariff" - when in fact it replaces it ....they aren't stacked.....Canola isnt being tariffed at 175%.....duhhhhh....

It looks like an EV retaliation. Cut EV tariffs now! Our legacy auto industry has failed us. Make an EV deal with China now.

We put tariff on EVs from China at behest of US. How’s that working out for us? Not so much!
