I’m pretty sure that most young Canadians aren’t lining up to do things like farm labour. (This is why one shouldn’t generalise so broadly).

They literally tried to get teenagers to do farm labour like tobacco in the 60s and it didn't work because they kept quitting

I won't generalize broadly, and I'm not going to indulge in his underlying xenophobia, but in my circles growing up, summer jobs in agriculture and horticulture were pretty common, and many people I knew did that all the way through university. OTOH, few to none wanted to make careers out of it.

Yes, one shouldn't geberalise so broadly...like generalising that the TFW program is about farm work when its the backbone of the fast food industry as well. Not to mention its increasing presence in construction, trucking, and even healthcare.

I say it should be mandatory for 18 year old persons to do Military service, or farm labour like many of us retired persons did. He's such a jerk ... but it is a good idea.
