And a very hearty good riddance to Giroux.

Prime Minister Carney announces the appointment of Jason Jacques as the interim Parliamentary Budget Officer, effective September 3, 2025, for a six-month term, and thanks the current Parliamentary Budget Officer, Yves Giroux, for his dedication and years of service to Canadians. Mr. Jacques currently serves as the Director General of Economic and Fiscal Analysis at the Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO). Prior to the PBO, he worked at the Privy Council Office, Finance Canada, Treasury Board Secretariat, and Bank of Canada.

Why? What was the issue? I think he was a Harper appointee, but other than that, was he contentious or incompetent?

Incompetent & worse. Giroux was instrumental in turning public opinion against the carbon tax and other government policies which served the long term public interest.

Ah yes. I remember that. That was brutal and really seemed like he was a partisan.
