I went to Carnegie Mellon and being a Scottish school bagpipes are played. When asked where they practiced, was pointed to a hillside far away.

I used to live not-that-close to a high school which had a Scotsman as its mascot & featured its bagpipe band at all events. We could readily hear them practicing outdoors in the afternoons from a mile away.
