not in the military but I sense that we got used to fighting dudes in pajamas whose primary tactic was to live off rice and blend in with villagers, and we're not super tuned up for a conflict against an also industrialized adversary that's trying their hardest to win using actual technology

I'm worried if we went to war with China tomorrow most Americans would be like "ugh can't the army like handle this without bugging me" whereas China would view it as every individual's responsibility to spend every waking hour trying to win. Hope we'd wake tf up.
