He'd be sending refugees back to certain death to Afghanistan et al, just like those who fought for Britain in WW2, sent back to Russia in exchange for British prisoners. Taken into the forests and killed, dumped into mass graves.

Farage is a pig you give far too much air time to. Sort that out and then you may be a news channel instead of wtf you are with this

FFS! They could be 100% deliverable - the point is that they're morally repugnant, and the government should be saying so unequivocally. Treating him as a "far-right activist" rather than the fascist leader of a fascist party (currently your main opposition) is fatal complacency.

Stirring up trouble Ha Attempting to make British Fascism Fashionable so the electorate are placed in a state of constant fear of anything unfamiliar. You survived the bloody Blitz. You can figure out how to take advantage of being a place people risk their lives for a chance to call it home.

Saying that Farage's plan won't work is not good enough. You to fail to recognise the depth of anger with large number of the public, they are fed up. Instead of telling people what won't work, start delivering what will work. If you don't, we will end up with Farage and his Thick Racist Fockers.

If every migrant were deported tomorrow It would not improve peoples lives one iota. Like Brexit, its a distraction from the real cause of our country's problems which is an economic and political system that serves the interests of wealth and power at our expense

You are probably right. The uncomfortable truth is, unless the government demonstrate that they are in full control of immigration and our borders with a believable immigration policy, then Farage will be in.

dylans1.bsky.social @dylans1.bsky.social

They need an alternative explanation as to the cause of their problems instead of blaming scapegoats The UK does NOT have an immigration problem. The number of asylum seekers in the UK is lower than most countries in Europe. Its a distraction, the real enemy arrive in private jets not rubber dinghies

John Bentley @johnbentlegs.bsky.social

The point is the UK does not have an immigration policy, and is not seen as being in control of our borders. That is unacceptable to a huge number of voters. Enough to give Reform the next election.

You cant outcompete Farage on immigration. As he just demonstrated, he will always be more extreme, more populist. All appeasing him does is legitimise his narrative Instead we need to challenge it. The concern about immigration is hysteria and a distraction from the real cause of peoples problems

Insisting that millions of voters concerns are illegitimate and hysteria, is the ridiculous arrogance that has brought us to where we are now.

2 but the narrative that blames migrants, refugees, asylum seekers, people on small boats etc for causing those problems is not valid or fact based. Its scapegoating and its this narrative that must be challenged by explaining the real cause of peoples problems

1 When you say "concerns" what are they concerned about? For most its not an abstract "concern" about foreigners. When asked most will say they are worried about real tangible things such as housing, public services, low pay, NHS etc, Those concerns are real and valid

If every single refugee was deported tomorrow, it would not improve the economic condition of those shouting at hotels and waving flags one iota. Their problems are real, their targets are scapegoats the Farages "solutions" are a chimera

A government that is doing nothing, exactly the same as the Tory Governmentabout both legal and illegal immigration. Deny it if you like but immigration will play a huge part in deciding the next election. Thats what is pushing people towards Farage. Farage has no other policies except immigration.

People blame immigration because they have been sold the narrative that immigrants, like Brexit before it, are the cause of all their problems and that stopping immigration, like leaving the EU before it, is the panacea to solve all problems Its a false narrative that we can challenge not appease

The Huguenots were French Protestants who at one time made up 10% of the population. They were persecuted by the Catholic majority, culminating in the St Bartholomew's Day Massacre of 1572, in which around 70.000 were murdered. Thousands of Huguenots were granted asylum in England.

Fascinating. Thanks. I can’t help but draw parallels with what is happening in the Middle East right now, although the Israelis have less of an excuse since their persecution happened in relatively recent history. Learn from it or be doomed to repeat as they say.

All these little lefties running scared. They realise they can’t really argue against it, or they’ll look like pro immigration, but to go along with it would show their current policies to be useless. Either way they’re treading a path to defeat at next election.
