I worked in the Middle East a few years ago and was astonished at how overtly racism was embedded and accepted in society. At the time, I contrasted it against the UK but it feels like it's being normalised here too.
Yes. It's always been here, but latent, hidden, just under the surface. It occasionally pops its head up and ducks again when people point out it's not socially acceptable. I've seen it my whole life. Now, as you say, it's being normalised. People will get hurt or worse. Jo Cox paid with her life.
It's shitty and nasty and I despair.
