one surprising thing that has been heartening to see lately is NextDoor's extremely powerful narc energy turning almost exclusively on ICE agents. love that my neighbors are finally using their weird paranoid scold abilities for good.

There is no thing as a Karen, just adults with unthreated mental illnesses and horrific panic disorders (Those gens were allergic to go to therapy), but those people aren´t usually evil, so It´s not surprising that if they see an horrible crime like a kidnap, they gonna report.

Nice. Mine are still mostly just bitching about shitty cell phone/internet service, their cats getting out and local small business drama. And coyote sightings, apparently.

I'm afraid to even peek into my NextDoor anymore. My neighbors are the ones cheering ICE on.

I hear you. I never look at that nextdoor hellscape. When I did see it, it seemed to be a place for old people who are too racist for Facebook.

yes, which is why it's astonishing that there's been such a dramatic sea change. at least that's been the case in Los Angeles County

Totally agree. I have thought of it as a sort of paradigm shift … the radicalization of NextDoor feels significant! And it’s not just reporting on ICE - it’s also offering to run errands for neighbors who don’t feel safe in certain places right now. Heartening.

My posts about ICE in town all got reported and hidden, but I suppose they were up when they needed to be

My running joke in SoCal is that NextDoor is basically Coyotes and Karens (so sorry if that is a bad term now, I can’t tell any more), like a coyote is in the neighborhood or “I saw a (person not like me) on my lawn”. But this is so heartening. Happy to hear it.
