Okay, I didn't play Hollow Knight, so I'm curious why people are like this about Silksong Just kinda seemed like a straightforward metroidvania with an artstyle that doesn't quite do it for me.

I played it a long while after it came out on a whim. Knew nothing and ended up falling in love with the environments and atmosphere I feel it’s a double edged sword trying to talking up a game besides yes I would love for you to play it but setting unrealistic expectations will only hinder it
Because yes*
Our imaginations are always better than the reality of what can be put into a game Though the fact that the team has just been having fun adding more to the next game (hence the long wait) rather than being in development hell is nice and refreshing
tumblr and a specific category of the queer community latched on to it and its characters early on i think. I tried giving it a genuine play and while the game felt solid and polished the beginning felt kinda open ended and meandering, and got super discouraged once I lost my "souls" on second death
It’s best in class exemplary of the genre where everything is just done at a high degree of quality. The movement feels great, the bosses are great, the atmosphere and environmental storytelling, the soundtrack, the art. Not to mention it’s $15 for quite a substantially sized game.
There’s a reason it’s one of the best selling Indie games of all time, made by a 3 person(with 1 composer and 2 contractors I think) dev team. It’s a little bit of a lightning in a bottle moment of an incredibly unlikely success story
I'll have to find some time for it then.
