I love this! Ambulatory disabilities aren't seen all that often. Big picture advice: be careful that him choosing a mobility advice isnt constantly phrased as a negative. "He needs this today because hes weak" versus "hes going to give himself the extra help today" makes a world of difference.

The way I have been doing it in the story is just mentioning it. Like; Thorn decided to go with his crutches today to school, careful about the ice patches. Or something similar like that. Just because he needs them doesn't mean its negative!!
